MATTERS OF LIFE AND DEATH Abortion clinic with 'bloody carpets' closed City official reports business license discontinued, building vacated Posted: September 28, 2007 1:00 am Eastern © 2009 WorldNetDaily.com
An abortion clinic in Atlantic City, N.J., that was closed by the state Health Department after an inspection revealed blood-stained carpeting and surgical instruments with rust now has shut down permanently, bringing to 20 the number of such clinics that have closed over the last 18 months. City Councilman John Schultz told the Press of Atlantic City that the Alternatives abortion business had given up its business license, moved out of the building and was a month behind on its rent. "We are happy that there is one less abortion mill in our nation today," said Cheryl Sullenger, senior policy adviser for Operation Rescue, which recently bought an abortion facility in Wichita, Kan., and closed it down. "We believe that if every abortion mill was regularly inspected and held to minimum health and safety standards, very few would be allowed to remain open," she said. The organization reported abortionist Alan Kline closed down rather than meet the cleanup requirements of a 116-page Health Department report. (Story continues below) "The situation at Alternatives is a snapshot of the condition at abortion mills across the country," Sullenger said. "Clinics have been recently closed for filthy and unsafe conditions in Ohio, Alabama, Florida and Kansas. Abortion clinics in Missouri are fighting laws that would make them clean up or force them to close." The results illustrate just how "dangerous" the abortion facilities are, she said. "And even if they did comply with safety standards, they have illustrated an attitude of disregard for the health and safety of their patients that doesn't go away with clean floors and sanitized instruments. For the abortionist, money comes before any concern for humanity." Former Miss Atlantic City Day Gardner, now president of the National Black Pro-Life Union, said her organization was celebrating. "Black people must wake up to the fact that abortion facilities are purposefully placed in minority and inner city areas. Abortion has become the number one killer of African Americans, killing more black people than heart disease, stroke, crime, accidents, HIV-AIDS – and all other deaths COMBINED!" she said. "Therefore, I am especially happy at the closing of the Atlantic City abortion mill. We must understand that the abortion business makes millions and millions of dollars every year drenched in the blood of black children," she said. Gardner was Miss Atlantic City in 1974 and went on to become the first black Miss Delaware, 1976, and was the first black woman to place in the semi-finalists at Miss America. She now also is anchor for Daily Life News and on staff at the National Pro-Life Action Center in Washington. Another clinic to be closed down technically never opened. Just a week ago a federal judge in Illinois ordered that a newly constructed $7.5 million Planned Parenthood abortion facility in the Chicago suburb of Aurora must remain idle pending a city investigation into the deception Planned Parenthood used in obtaining permission for the project. "The continued closure of this deceitful abortion mill is a victory for the pro-life movement which exposed Planned Parenthood's lies to the city," said Troy Newman, president of Operation Rescue. "But it is especially a victory for the pre-born babies whose innocent lives will not be taken there." As WND reported , Planned Parenthood withheld information from the city about the true plans for the building as it was obtaining various building and zoning permits. For instance, in one meeting during the planning process, officials told the city that the tenant was not yet determined, even though Planned Parenthood owned the site and was planning to launch its abortion services as soon as it could. U.S. District Judge Charles Norgle has refused, in two separate court hearings, to grant a Planned Parenthood demand for an order telling the city to issue a certificate of occupancy that would allow Planned Parenthood to begin its business operations there. As WND has reported, the pursuit of legal action against various abortion businesses also is being encouraged by pro-life concerns, because of the potential for damage to the industry. The issue is that the federal laws require abortion businesses to follow all state laws in order to obtain the millions of dollars a year taxpayers provide to the industry. If they are documented as having failed, not only could future subsidies be endangered, but past subsidies might have to be repaid. Mark Crutcher, the chief of Life Dynamics, has told WND that with the industry's "heavy reliance" on tax subsidies, "losing that money would be nothing less than a financial catastrophe." "Needless to say that could literally cripple the entire abortion industry," he concluded. The closures include:
