A Federal judge decided that the Federal Bureau of Investigation has not been honoring the US Constitution. For several years now, the FBI has been writing hundreds of thousands of “national security letters” to businesses asking employers to disclose private information regarding their clients and bypassing the process of a warrant or subpoena.
Andrew Napolitano explains how the government used the law to attempt to extract information without a judge's approval; and noted that the law only struck down a provision that prevents the free speech of the recipient of a "national security letter."
Over 350,000 of these national security letters have been served since 2011, Napolitano warned. "Do you think anybody we know has been the subject of them?"
