The Golden State welcomed a whopping 4,845 refugees through the first 10 months of FY 2017. A quarter of those refugees came from Iran, while another 20 percent came from Iraq. Syria and Ukraine were common sending countries as well. While the state averaged 801 new arrivals per month over the first four months of the fiscal year, arrivals dropped off dramatically beginning in February, President Trump's first full month in office. This was the case with nearly all the states on this list as well.
