The life of hitman William B. Wasz is now in danger, and his attorney blames someone from the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office for compromising his safety.
Last week WorldNetDaily obtained information showing a possible conspiracy in the death of Nicole Brown Simpson. The information was an attorney proffer, which detailed an effort by O.J. Simpson’s friend and attorney Robert Kardashian to hire Wasz to kill Brown. That proffer, in the possession of deputy district attorney Curtis Hazell, was leaked to WorldNetDaily and others.
The attorney who wrote the proffer for Wasz is Los Angeles attorney Lawrence M. Longo, who expressed his anger and disappointment with Hazell. Although Hazell has not returned any calls to WorldNetDaily, Longo was able to reach him.
Hazell insists that he was not the person who leaked the confidential attorney proffer, and has no idea who did, according to Longo. Longo was quick to criticize Hazell and the lack of professionalism in the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
“We’ve got to get back to the basics, where they look out for the rights of the people and put their political interests aside,” said Longo, who was also critical of the long-standing political rivalries and internal problems taking place in the District Attorney’s Office.
Longo says he has solid evidence to support the claims made in his proffer to Hazell, although he would not provide details because of attorney-client privilege. The proffer (WorldNetDaily April 23) detailed the hiring of Wasz by Kardashian for the purpose of murdering Nicole Brown.
The story of Wasz came out very early after the murder of Nicole Brown, but he was discredited by both the defense and the prosecution, according to Joseph Bosco, crime journalist and author. After the trial was over, Bosco says he learned that there were facts to support the claims of Wasz and he brought this to the attention of Longo.
Bosco exploded angrily when he learned of the leak, “That’s it. We’re ruined. We’re ruined. It’s over,” he exclaimed. Bosco said the Wasz case proves the incompetence of the District Attorney’s Office, which he proclaimed in his book on the trial, “A Problem of Evidence: How the Prosecution Freed O.J. Simpson.”
Wasz is now in prison for an unrelated robbery charge, a fact which hurts his credibility. But, when Longo was asked about any deals made with Wasz for his information, he said, “He’s not getting anything out of this. That’s one of the main reasons I was willing to take this case.”
Asked if Wasz is now in danger because his offer to provide information has now become public, Longo said, “You bet your a– he is.”
The proffer was sent to Hazell on March 16 after a verbal agreement was made between Longo and Hazell. Longo says he expected an immediate response from Hazell, but to date nothing has happened. He says he will now push hard to have Wasz interviewed by Hazell as quickly as possible.
“That’s my main objective. I’m going to push that to happen before my client gets killed,” said Longo.
Wasz claims he was hired to kill Simpson, but he did not do it. He also says he has no idea who committed the crime. He was willing to come forward when the actual murder took place because he believed it would help prosecutors to realize that someone else was most likely hired in his place. His story was discredited at the time, but now Longo claims evidence exists to corroborate the story.
Kardashian and Hazell have not returned calls.
