Union to challenge NAFTA in court

By WND Staff

A lawsuit against the U.S. government challenging the North American
Free Trade Agreement — or NAFTA –as being unconstitutionally adopted
will be filed in a U.S. District Court today, according to a major labor
union and a public policy foundation promoting U.S. manufacturing jobs.

The court case is being filed by the United Steelworkers of America
and the Made in the USA Foundation.

“NAFTA is a betrayal of American workers,” said USWA President George
Becker, who will lead a press conference announcing the suit. “Because
NAFTA is a treaty that never received the constitutionally required
two-thirds vote in the U.S. Senate, we have no recourse but to now seek
a judicial review in the federal courts.”

The USWA represents 750,000 workers with headquarters in Pittsburgh,
PA. Made in the USA Foundation is based in Washington.
