Without New Media hero, Bill Gertz, a key speaker at WorldNetDaily’s
September conference in Los Angeles,”The New Media to America’s Rescue,”
and his book, “Betrayal: How the Clinton Administration Undermined
American Security,” Americans would be left in the dark on the Clinton
administration cover-up of a national security crisis, unaware of
shocking new signs of U.S. vulnerability.
But because of the Internet-fueled success of Gertz’s best-seller,
Americans can recognize, for instance, that a statement by a defiant
North Korean official carried on the ITAR-TASS wire recently, signals
North Korea’s increasing capability to, as Gertz predicts in “Betrayal,”
“lob chemical or biological weapons not just on Alaska and Hawaii, but
on some of the western United States as well.”
That’s because the North Korean official is quoted as saying that no
amount of pressure, either diplomatically or in the form of economic
sanctions, will stop North Korea from a new missile test-fire. Those who
read “Betrayal,” will know that Pentagon officials not only confessed to
Gertz they were caught totally off guard by the nuclear capabilities
that North Korea demonstrated with its missile test last summer, but are
now gripped with fear “that with just one more test,” — quite probably
just such a test as the North Korean official referred to — “the North
Koreans could achieve something few other nations had done: develop an
ICBM — an intercontinental ballistic missile.”
With an ICBM, North Korea could hit not just Alaska and the Hawaiian
Islands with a missile, capabilities which it probably already
possesses, Gertz reveals in “Betrayal,” based on U.S. intelligence
agencies’ analysis of last summer’s missile test. But an ICBM could hit
the mainland United States, possibly loaded with chemical or biological
weapons which could devastate the entire nation. Such would be the case
with a smallpox bio-weapon, which, Russian defector, Ken Alibek, reports
in his book “Biohazard,” is almost certainly in North Korea’s hands.
Gertz’s blockbuster book is based on his front page defense and
national security reporting for The Washington Times.
At the WorldNetDaily conference Gertz will be comparing notes on how
the Internet and talk radio allows hard-hitting investigative reporters
to stage end runs around the establishment media with other such New
Media personalities as WorldNetDaily.com Editor Joseph Farah, columnists
David Hackworth, Geoff Metcalf and J.R. Nyquist, Judicial Watch Chairman
Larry Klayman, and House Manager James Rogan, R-Calif. New Media
personaility Matt Drudge is also considering an appearance.
This distinguished panel’s presentations on “The New Media to
America’s Rescue,” will be held Sept. 17-19 in Los Angeles at the Hilton
Universal. Gertz told WorldNetDaily that without the New Media the facts
about how President Clinton ravaged America’s national security revealed
in “Betrayal,” “would never have gotten the exposure they did.”
Gertz credits the release of information from the book on the
Internet prior to its publication as a major factor in making it an
instant best-seller.
Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman, whose relentless filing of
Chinagate lawsuits against the government also helped expose the
national security scandal, notes that, “Increasingly today’s political
battles are being fought with tomorrow’s technology. The Internet,
electronic mail and other tools of cyberspace are taking on an
ever-greater role and importance. That’s why we need to not only keep up
with the latest technology, but use it effectively.”
The conference will analyze the New Media as a tool for spearheading
journalistic, political, ethical and legal reform.
“Betrayal” might never have been published and, even if it had, few
Americans would ever have known of its existence, let alone found it so
convenient to buy, without the New Media.
Gertz recalls that the major New York publishing houses were only
interested in books on the Clinton sex scandal. For reasons of ideology,
he guesses, and conventional wisdom about what sells, they all turned
down his book, even though it was, he says, the REAL Clinton
administration scandal — our breached national security.
But Regnery, a publisher which has learned to use the Internet to
promote its controversial, often conservative-leaning books, gave Gertz
a contract. Still, once the book was published he says, “I was shut out
from all the major newspapers. Not one, except for The Wall Street
Journal, reviewed “Betrayal.” Yet because of the Internet and talk
radio, the book became a best-seller.”
Furthermore, says Judicial Watch Chairman Larry Klayman, the struggle
to repair our national security remains the all-important cyberbattle.
Says Klayman, “George W. Bush’s announcement that high-tech export
barriers to China should be lowered shows that the Chinagate scandal
will survive long beyond the next elections. Democrats and Republicans
have looked the other way with regards to the actions of their big
donors in breaching U.S. national security.”
The conference will kick off Friday night, Sept. 17, with a VIP
cocktail party followed by Saturday’s all-day program of speakers and a
ceremony at which Bill Gertz will be presented with an award for
excellence in investigative journalism. On Sunday, Sept. 19, the
conference will close with a champagne brunch and Q&A session with Bill
Gertz and other speakers. To make participation possible for the
greatest number of people, WorldNetDaily is offering three levels of
attendance:
1) For $50 you may attend either Friday night’s or Sunday morning’s
social events.
2) For $139 you get Saturday’s packed all-day program of speakers —
the meat of the conference — plus a gala luncheon and morning
refreshments.
3) For $169 you get to attend all three days’ events: Friday’s VIP
cocktail party, Saturday’s all-day program with gala lunch and morning
refreshments and Sunday morning’s champagne brunch and
question-and-answer session with Bill Gertz. Plus you also get a copy of
Gertz’s best-selling book, “Betrayal.”
For those who want to commute each day, parking at $10 a day is
available in the Hilton Universal’s underground parking lot.
For those who wish to stay over Friday or Saturday night, a special
conference rate is available of just $133 per room per night.
The Universal Hilton is a renowned luxury hotel almost unique in
being within walking distance of many of Los Angeles’ most famous
restaurants and attractions. The hotel is also fantastically convenient
for those flying in because it’s just minutes away from Burbank airport.
