Last week, during a staff meeting, WND Editor and CEO Joseph Farah
recounted for all his recent trip to Washington, D.C., where he attended
the White House Correspondents' Association annual black tie dinner --
the final such dinner featuring Bill Clinton as president.
Consider this column an open letter to my colleagues in the press.
I'm egregiously disappointed in most of you who attended that dinner
along with my boss and his friends and associates. I was both appalled
and disgusted at you, my fellow reporters, upon hearing about the kind
of treatment Joe and Elizabeth Farah and Co. at his table endured at
your hands.

For readers who don't know what's going on here, I'll recount it
briefly.
When Clinton was introduced to speak, every reporter, editor,
journalist, Hollywood star and groupie of all of the above rose in
thunderous applause -- everyone except my boss, his wife, Judicial
Watch's
Larry Klayman,
Matt
Drudge,
Insight Editor Paul Rodriguez, and the others seated at that table.

For that "outrage," Joe told us, other reporters chided and harangued them, became indignant, and all but demanded they stand and "show respect" to, at least, the office of the presidency. Still, they refused to do so and, for that, I am distinctly proud.
What I am not proud of -- but am happy to address in this column -- is the absolutely despicable behavior of the other reporters and journalists who thought it appropriate to criticize the only table in the room filled with people demonstrating guts, integrity, honor and decency.

For the record, defending and respecting the office of the presidency is one thing; defending and extending respect to a known criminal and sex maniac who just happens to be our president is quite another. Individuals are presidents and, if they have as much disrespect for themselves and their office as Clinton has repeatedly shown, then there is no mandate requiring anyone to extend courtesies and congeniality to that person. That doesn't, however, mean that those same people who refuse to lick Clinton's boots also despise the office he holds. Get real.
Fellow newshounds, there is just nothing to respect about this man -- and most of you know that. Why you do anyway is your business but, by doing so, you bring the shame of his performance as president upon yourselves. You deserve it; most of you have refused -- for nearly eight years -- to fulfill your role as watchdog and report honestly and completely on every breach of office this man has either engaged in or instigated on his own selfish behalf.
If you doubt my accusation, then explain to me the mere existence of a publication like WorldNetDaily -- which consistently fulfills the traditional role of journalism in America -- let alone our wildly successful growth and ability to attract other fine, veteran writers who have lost neither their integrity nor their sense of duty.
But, besides just being reporters, you're also supposed to be Americans first and foremost. Americans who understand their government, its proper role, and the duty government is required to fulfill on behalf of the citizens. Don't sit there smugly and try to tell me that the Clinton administration has truthfully and honestly fulfilled this obligation; we all know it hasn't so -- don't even go there.
As most of you stood there clapping and cheering this deviant on, did it not occur to any of you that as journalists whose first responsibility ought to be truthfully and honestly informing the public that you have no business sucking-up to these people in government in the first place?

How is it that you can justify your argument that you have honestly reported on the shenanigans of this administration while knowing you attend parties, functions, and social events the president and his congressional allies have either sponsored or appeared at? In other words, how can you be "chummy" with these people and still cling to the lie that you're treating their dishonesty fairly in print? You want to give us a break here?
Though most of the American public may not realize it, you and I know that you're more interested in rubbing elbows with the elite than you are in reporting on all the dishonest, underhanded, sneaky, illegal, unethical and improper acts they commit on a daily basis.
You shouldn't even be at functions with these people; to do so compromises your ability to treat them fairly in the press.
But you know that, don't you, and that's the whole point, isn't it?

Well, look -- I'm not out to change your mind about the way you do your job because I know that nothing I will say shames you, makes you uncomfortable, or even makes any sense to you.
However, know that the American people -- more of them everyday -- are "on to you" now and will learn more about how compromised you hypocrites really are as time goes on and as WorldNetDaily (and publications like ours) continue to flourish. In due time, your days as the self-appointed "chieftains" of what the public does and does not know about its government are numbered -- and, it's about time.
One other thing. It speaks volumes to me knowing that you "mainstreamers" in the media would rather ally yourselves with precisely the kind of immoral behavior that has caused the American public to lose faith in you in the first place. I'm laughing my assets off about that one 'cause I know you'll cling to those beliefs to the last second, even -- probably -- as you're being flushed down the toilet of irrelevance and relegated to the ash heap of history.
You people have embarrassed the profession of journalism for far too long. It's time to change that and, here at WorldNetDaily, we are. Instead of looking down your arrogant noses at us, you ought to consider joining us. We'll give you your respect back.
