“And Satan stood up against Israel, and provoked David to number
Israel. And David said to Joab and to the rulers of the people, Go, number
Israel from Beersheba even to Dan; and bring the number of them to me, that
I may know it. And Joab answered, The LORD make his people an hundred times
so many more as they be: but, my lord the king, are they not all my lord’s
servants? why then doth my lord require this thing? why will he be a cause
of trespass to Israel? Nevertheless the king’s word prevailed against Joab.
Wherefore Joab departed, and went throughout all Israel, and came to
Jerusalem. And Joab gave the sum of the number of the people unto David. And
all they of Israel were a thousand thousand and an hundred thousand men
that drew sword: and Judah was four hundred threescore and ten thousand men
that drew sword. But Levi and Benjamin counted he not among them: for the
king’s word was abominable to Joab. And God was displeased with this thing;
therefore he smote Israel. And David said unto God, I have sinned greatly,
because I have done this thing: but now, I beseech thee, do away the
iniquity of thy servant; for I have done very foolishly.”

I have in my possession my original Social Security card, issued in, I
would guess, the late 1950s.

My mother got it for me when I was a small child. She did what she was
told by her government. She believed in the authorities who told her, in
writing, that the number would be used for Social Security and tax purposes
only and “not for identification,” as it clearly states on the card.

But my mother was betrayed by her government. That number has followed me
around like an albatross around my neck for the last 40 years. I can’t open
a bank account without it. I can’t get a driver’s license without it. I
can’t even get a job without it.

I don’t want my kids to face that kind of future, nor, more likely, one
even worse. I don’t want my kids numbered by the government. I don’t want to
go along and get along with the king — for deeply held spiritual and
philosophical reasons.

Yet, because of this decision not to number my children, I pay
significantly higher taxes than my neighbors who are given deductions
because of their submission to the numbering system. My kids will not be
permitted to work unless this abominable system is changed. They will no
doubt face challenges in college admissions and in other areas.

That’s why I am calling for an end to this numbering fascism. I think
America is beginning to understand where this is leading. This year we
witnessed the first rebellion, albeit wholly unorganized, against the
intrusive government snooping in the Census. That’s what it will take for
Congress to wake up and begin repairing the damage it has inflicted upon our
God-given individual rights.

Oftentimes Christians point only to scriptural references in Revelations
concerning the antichrist system of numbering people as their religious
objection to such numbering plans. The problem with such thinking is that
the Social Security number is not the Mark of the Beast discussed in the
Apocalypse. It is, nonetheless, evil.

The Bible makes clear that numbering the population is God’s jurisdiction
and His only. He ordered Moses to do it. The Jews were blessed for it. He
did not order David to do it. Therefore David and all of Israel were
punished for the king’s misuse of authority.

I for one will no longer voluntarily yield to illegitimate government
authority with regard to numbering. I hope and pray there are millions of
other likeminded Americans out there who will begin standing up for God,
country and individual liberty in this way.

Jesus said to render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar’s and render
unto God the things that are God’s. God is the One who reserves the
authority to number us. He even numbers the hairs on our heads.

I say Caesar is going to have figure out some other system of getting his
