Outlawed words in a politically correct world

By Chuck Baldwin

A London newspaper recently ran the story of a British college that
has banned the use of certain words from their campus. No, the outlawed
words do not include profanity or vulgarity. Words and phrases banned
include “normal couple” (How do you define normal?), “slaving over a hot
stove” (minimizes the horrors of slavery), “history” (sexist), “lady”
and “gentleman” (have class implications), etc. College officials at
Stockport College, in Greater Manchester, said the new policy was an
attempt to be sure that women, homosexuals and ethnic minorities were
not offended.

The college has an enrollment of some 15,000 students. To make sure
that its rules on language are followed, the school “will make it a
condition of service and admission that employees and students adhere to
this policy.” There are exceptions, however. Homosexuals and disabled
people may use words like “queer” and “cripple” if they want to.

That got me to thinking. In today’s liberated culture, the most
vulgar, profanity-laced language imaginable is acceptable for public
consumption. Nothing is too crude or too coarse. Children today commonly
use the kind of obnoxious language that grown men would seldom use just
a few years ago.

At the same time, it appears that this generation is inventing a
brand new list of objectionable language. Therefore, we can expect that
soon the following words will be outlawed:

  • Christian: Outlawed as exclusive, unless intended to mean
    “tolerant.”

  • Conservative: Almost as profane as “Christian.” Very base and
    offensive.

  • Constitution: A relic from a bygone era. A dirty word analogous
    with “Liberty” and “Independence.”

  • Firearm: An inanimate object with its own evil nature. It kills
people all by itself and is responsible for all the world’s violence. A
    very dirty word.

  • Founding Fathers: Mean-spirited, sexist, homophobes. The lowest
creatures on the face of the earth. Use only with the most loathsome
epithets. See also “White, Heterosexual Male.”

  • God: May never be used except when cursing. In context with
    worship or
adoration it is, perhaps, the most offensive word of all.

  • Industry or Enterprise: Being incompatible with socialism, now
    obsolete.

  • Marriage: Archaic and unnecessary. Cohabitation has taken its
    place.

  • Salvation: Implies man is sinful.
  • Sin: No such thing.

  • South: A reminder of the Old Confederacy, a place of notorious
    disrepute.

  • Win or Victory: Implies someone has been defeated. Doesn’t fit in
    the new egalitarian society.

In our new politically correct Amerika, offensive speech is much
more deplorable than offensive behavior. In this new order, it is much
more important that we think right than do right. Criminal conduct is
less egregious than conservative attitudes.

In school, it matters not that Johnny knows the principles of science
and mathematics as long as he knows the principles of liberalism and
political correctness. In matters of commerce, patriotism sits in the
back of the bus being driven by the global economy. If political
correctness were a woman, her name would be Jezebel.
