Republican presidential hopeful and Texas Gov. George W. Bush has pulled ahead of rival Democrat Al Gore in the race for electoral votes, according to an influential tracking survey.
Portrait of America, in releasing its most recent electoral analysis, shows Bush leading with 210 electoral votes compared to Gore's 192.

In the breakdown, POA analysts said Bush has 109 "solid" electoral votes, with an additional 101 "leaning" to him. Gore has a "solid" 60 electoral votes and 132 "leaning" to him.
Presidential candidates need 270 electoral votes to win.
