WND kicks off 2nd candidate survey

By Julie Foster

With the presidential race around the corner, WorldNetDaily is
preparing its second survey of White House hopefuls, using questions
submitted by readers to the

“Ask the Candidates”
forum.

The interactive forum launched in December gives readers an opportunity to ask questions of the candidates that are not being asked by the establishment media. Thousands of inquiries have been submitted since the forum’s inauguration, 10 of which were selected in February for the newssite’s

first survey.

WND readers asked candidates hard-hitting questions regarding national security, the Panama Canal, executive orders, income taxes, abortion and other critical election-year issues. Some candidates, such as Republican George W. Bush, chose not to address the direct questions posed by voters. A spokesman for Vice President Al Gore acknowledged receipt of the questionnaire, saying readers asked “some real good questions, but real complex questions pertaining to jurisprudence, and we can’t comply in the timeframe you allowed us.” Candidates were given more than a month to complete the survey.

Candidates with far less resources, however — including Republican Alan Keyes, Libertarian Harry Browne and Howard Phillips of the Constitution Party — took the time to respond to readers, giving detailed answers to questions in the survey.

Their answers have been
posted on WorldNetDaily since Feb. 12.

Editors at WND will again be reviewing submissions to the “Ask the Candidates” interactive forum for new questions. Some questions already being considered address gas and oil prices, the effect of the Internet on political campaigns and the structure of presidential debates.

Other questions being considered for the next survey include: “Who do you have in mind for cabinet positions?” and “Are you a member of the

World Federalist Association?”

The deadline for submissions is Friday, Sept. 29. Candidates will be given three weeks to formulate their responses and return the surveys. Results will be posted as they are received.

Post your question to candidates in the 2000 presidential race at WND’s

“Ask the Candidates”
forum.
