An Israeli Defense Force patrol has been fired upon by unknown gunmen
in Israel's northern border sector, though no deaths or injuries
Israeli press sources reported that the IDF patrol, operating near
Zarit, was shot at from across the border in Lebanon last evening.

Soldiers returned the fire, but it was unclear whether any of the
gunmen were injured. IDF officials did not say if the army patrol
pursued the attackers into Lebanon, but since Israel withdrew its forces
from southern Lebanon in May, officials have said it is not standard
procedure to pursue attackers across the border.
Meanwhile, gunfire was launched at the Benjamin Regional Council
community of P'sagot in Samaria, IDF officials said.
