James Sanders, the author of “Altered Evidence: How the Justice Department Framed a Journalist and His Wife,” will be a guest on Geoff Metcalf’s online radio talk show today.
Sanders’ experience as an investigative journalist gives him unique perspective on the First Amendment and government’s attempts to limit the media. A retired police officer, Sanders probed the downing of TWA Flight 800, tying evidence he uncovered to an alleged government scheme to obstruct justice. Sanders says the FBI and Justice Department used their power to harass, intimidate and persecute both his wife and him.
Today, Sanders will discuss a case with many parallels to his own. Vanessa Leggett, who is writing a book about the slaying of a Texas millionaire’s wife, was jailed on July 20 for refusing to hand over her notes to a federal grand jury investigating the murder. Leggett is locked in a battle with the federal government over her constitutional rights as a journalist.
Sanders cowrote a column today with Jack Cashill that delves into the Leggett case and discusses the recourse available to her.
Metcalf’s national Internet talk show can be heard live daily on WorldNetDaily’s streaming page – TalkNetDaily – from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Pacific time (7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Eastern).
