A website featuring a musical and visual tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the U.S. is drawing hundreds of thousands of visitors, according to the site’s creator.
“Can’t Cry Hard Enough” combines the sounds of a vocal duo with several heart-rending images of the aftermath of the tragedy – from widows weeping in grief to President Bush surveying the destruction at the Pentagon.
Jason Powers, the creator of the online memorial, found himself in tears many times after the attacks.
“I did what artists do with their emotions and energy: create. I spent three days in front of my computer screen putting together a tribute to the victims of Sept. 11,” Powers says on his website.
Powers initially mailed the link to just 25 people. Like many sites and stories about Sept. 11, however, it quickly spread over the Internet via e-mail.
Since his first mailing, Powers said, “over 1,000,000 people have viewed [the tribute]! It is true that we are not alone in this world. It is true that one person can make a difference, for evil or good.”
The song used to accompany the poignant photos, written by David Williams and Marvin Etzioni, is from a 1990 album by singer Victoria Williams. These are the lyrics of the song’s chorus:
And now that you’re gone,
I can’t cry hard enough;
No, I can’t cry hard enough
For you to hear me now
The tribute ends by showing two verses from the Bible, one from Psalm 116 and the other from the book of Acts: “And anyone who calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
The site includes the opportunity to download the tribute.
