Rather than replace a parent, which adoption does, a London, Ontario, boy’s biological mother and father are seeking to “add a parent.” The father/sperm donor does not live with the boy and the women the 2-year-old describes as his “two moms.” The case, if successful, would set a precedent for expanding the definition of “marriage” and “family” far beyond even today’s “non-traditional family units.”
