‘Interfaith Zionist’ summit set

A pro-Israel organization is sponsoring a conference in Washington, D.C., next month meant to combat what it sees as major flaws in the Bush administration’s policy toward the Palestinians and the so-called roadmap to peace in the Middle East.

Sponsored by Zionist House of Boston, along with over a dozen Jewish and pro-Israel groups, the event features several well-known speakers, including former presidential candidates Alan Keyes and Gary Bauer, WorldNetDaily CEO Joseph Farah and noted Middle East expert Daniel Pipes.

According to advertising for The Interfaith Zionist Leadership Summit, which is scheduled for May 17-18, the purpose of the conference is to:

  • “Oppose rewarding murderous Palestinian terrorism with statehood – mocking our own war on terror and ultimately encouraging renewed Arab aggression against an Israel made invitingly vulnerable;

  • “Expose how President Bush’s stated policy of June 24, 2002, specifying essential pre-conditions for support of Palestinian statehood has been seriously undermined …;

  • “Lay bare the inherent absurdity of our State Department promoting a road map to Arab-Israeli ‘peace’ from a quartet whose other three members – Russia, the EU (France and Germany) and the U.N. – repeatedly disparage U.S. interests and are demonstrably hostile to Israel;

  • “Document the responsibility of Iran, Syria Libya and Saudi Arabia for supporting Islamic terrorism;

  • “Combat media ignorance and bias in Middle East coverage and virulent anti-Israel/anti-Semitic agitation on campus”; and

  • “Solidify and chart future strategy for the emerging alliance of Jewish and Christian Zionists.”

The summit draws co-sponsors from both the Jewish and Christian communities. The Christian Coalition and Christian Broadcasting Network both are listed as promoting the event.
