Editor's note: The following commentary contains strong language that will be offensive to some readers.
"We can gamble to the break of dawn, nigga
Money long, nigga
Pass up the skirt to talk to the thong, nigga
Some say I'm wrong, but f--- it I'm grown, nigga
If you ain't bout money then best be gone, nigga."

There is an interesting dichotomy in the public discourse. Even as the PC police clamp down ever more tightly on every expression of traditional values and religious beliefs, as they more strictly censor the textbooks of the schools through which most children are passing, the youth culture becomes ever more deliberately and contemptuously venomous in response to this totalitarian cultural whitewashing.

Thus, while the media attempts to ban references to God and the race of Man – excuse me, species of hupersonity – and feminists go red in the face should one refer to a woman as a "girl," much less a "chick," their children have become accustomed to using the terms "bitch" and "ho." While the endless debate of Colored /Negro /Black /African-American /Person of Color is now into its fifth decade, young black men have chosen the simple expedient of going back to a variant of the trusty old word "nigger." And the Queer /Gay /GLBT rigamarole is bypassed in favor of the disdainful standby "fag."
It seems that Rick Santorum, the Republican senator recently assaulted by the PC police, has a lot to learn from the likes of Nelly, Dr. Dre and Eminem. One couldn't help but notice that although Sen. Santorum was not only speaking sober legalisms in the remarks that spawned the most recent tempest in a teakettle, but doing so in a delicate, decorous manner, he came in for the full-court PC press.

The PC cops can never be avoided, you see, because their objections are not to the words that offend, as they would have it appear, but the ideas of which they do not approve. Thus the solution for successfully defeating them is not to retreat and apologize, but to confront them and turn up the heat instead. They are like Freddy Krueger of "Nightmare on Elm Street" fame – they have only as much power as one allows them to take.
It is amazing to see how quickly a PC cop will retreat in disarray when one does not immediately wither before their petty and controlling objections. If they object to "girl," drop "bitch" on them. If they protest "black," rap out a verse or two of NWA. If they complain about a reference to God, then tell them of the resurrected Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth, who died for them, that they might have eternal life.

Believe me, they'll shut up faster than Jeff Gordon. They can't win, you see, because our thesaurus more accurately reflects the world in all its colorful reality than their pallid dictatorialism.
"Moby, you can get stomped by Obie,
You 36-year-old bald-headed fag, blow me …
Now, let's go, just give me the signal
I'll be there with a whole list full of new insults."
– Eminem, "Without Me"
The media may try to excuse such errant sentiments as "reflecting the reality of the grim streets" or whatever, but that is utter nonsense. The PC-violating quotes above are from platinum-selling CDs, recorded by massively popular artists on major labels who sell to suburban white America and whose lives are about as grim as Queen Elizabeth's.
While to some readers this column may a priori appear to be some sort of post-adolescent rebellion, the ongoing attempt to control the language is a very serious matter, and overt resistance, as demonstrated by the vulgar youth culture, is the sole viable defense. Only a complete refusal to submit to the PC cops will defeat them, for as the Santorum affair proves, it is not the words which are the PC movement's ultimate target, but control over the minds which articulate them. At this point, I would even go so far as to suggest that the movement's sensitivity has been raised to such a level that if one is not offending, one is at least subconsciously submitting.
The Bible says that a soft answer turns away wrath, but we are not dealing with anger here – we are confronting a totalitarian movement that aims at nothing less than the wholesale destruction of history, intellectual freedom and traditional values. In this instance, I think Nelly, echoing the sentiments of Public Enemy, has the right of it.
"Should we apologize?
Nah f--- 'em, just leave 'em pissed."
– Nelly, "E.I."
