On June 26, the Supreme Court of the United States of America
released its 6-3 ruling, striking down Texas’ statute prohibiting
homosexual sex as a deviant and destructive behavior. Many astute legal
minds believe the Supreme Court of America has opened the door to
legalizing same-sex marriages, as well as removing restrictions from an
assortment of what has long been considered aberrant sexual behavior – such as polygamy, bestiality and pedophilia, to name a few.
America’s highest court’s assault on the culture is now complete, and
the twin sisters of slaughtering the innocent and sodomy are now legal
and protected rights in the land.
Just as in 1973, when every state in the union was rejecting abortion
in referendum after referendum, a majority of the Court overruled,
making abortion the law of the land, the high court has again taken the
role of determining what should be considered to be right and wrong.
Despite the feelings of the ignorant masses, which polling data
reveals continues to reject homosexual behavior by overwhelming margins,
the Supremes have decided the issue for them, legislating from the
bench, with no recourse for the great majority of the people who believe
that God’s word proclaims and history verifies that homosexual behavior
is sinful, destructive and dangerous for the culture.
Antonin Scalia, who is being pilloried from the left for his candid
dissent, with some even calling for his removal from the bench, has
accurately and courageously, even prophetically, laid this abominable
decision at the feet of the six justices who have chosen a side in the
culture war, and forcibly imposed their will on the masses of religious
people in this country who believe God’s Word has spoken on this issue.
I believe that if the church of Jesus Christ does not unite and stand
with this courageous judge and defend him, and marshal their people to
stop an out-of-control federal judiciary, the God who granted us our
freedoms and who has blessed this country for so long, will soon move in
powerful judgment upon the land.
Judge Scalia writes in his dissenting opinion:
… Today’s opinion is the product of a Court, which is the product
of a law-profession culture, that has largely signed on to the so called
homosexual agenda, by which I mean the agenda promoted by some
homosexual activists directed at eliminating the moral opprobrium that
has traditionally attached to the homosexual conduct. I noted in an
earlier opinion the fact that the American Association of Law Schools
(to which any reputable school must seek to belong) excludes from
membership any school that refuses to ban from its job-interview
facilities a law firm (no matter how small) that does not wish to hire
as a prospective partner a person who openly engages in homosexual
conduct. See Romer, supra, at 653.One of the most revealing statements in today’s opinion is the
Court’s grim warning that the criminalization of homosexual conduct is
“an invitation to subject homosexual persons to discrimination both in
the public and in the private spheres.” Ante, at 14. It is clear from
this that the Court has taken sides in the culture war, departing from
its role of assuring, as a neutral observer, that the democratic rules
of engagement are observed. Many Americans do not want persons who
openly engage in homosexual conduct as partners in their business, as
Scout masters for their children, as teachers in their children’s
schools or as boarders in their home. They view this as protecting
themselves and their families from a lifestyle that they believe to be
immoral and destructive. The Court views it as “discrimination” which it
is the function of our judgments to deter. So imbued is the Court with
the law profession’s anti-anti-homosexual culture, that it is seemingly
unaware that the attitudes of that culture are not obviously
“mainstream”; that in most states what the Court calls “discrimination”
against those who engage in homosexual acts is perfectly legal …
Thirty years ago, abortion became the law of the land, to the
dismay of the majority of Christians who faithfully attend their
churches. No one could have predicted that we would destroy 40 million
babies and have difficulty deciding that killing full term babies
through the procedure now referred to as partial-birth abortion, was
wrong, but here we are.
Now we have removed any prohibition of homosexual behavior. What’s
next, bestiality? In his dissent, Justice Scalia raises that very
possibility, based on this ruling. If the pastors of this land do not
stand up on this issue, I am convinced that God will move in swift and
powerful judgment on our blessed land. God help us to stand!
Isaiah 3:8-9 makes God’s feelings on this matter abundantly clear:
Their words and deeds are against the Lord, defying his glorious
presence. The look on their faces testifies against them;
they parade their sin like Sodom; they do not hide it. Woe to them! They
have brought disaster upon themselves.
And to the society that tolerates this behavior, He states:
Now I will tell you what I am going to do to my vineyard: I will take
away the hedge and it will be destroyed. (Isaiah 5:5).
Pastors and fellow Christians, we have a champion of our values
on the Supreme Court. Are we willing to take the heat and stand with
him? More importantly, are we willing to stand with and for our Lord and
His word.
The Supreme Court is comprised of men and women, who like us, are
flawed by sin. They got it wrong with the Dred Scott decision: They got
it wrong with the Roe v. Wade decision; and they got it wrong with this
decision. With every arrogant action which confronts God’s revealed
truth, comes God’s justice.
Vision America is looking for courageous Christians who will stand
with us against such insidious assaults on our faith.
