Palestinian TV glorifies female ‘martyr’

The first female suicide terrorist to strike Israel was glorified in song on official Palestinian Authority television yesterday.

Wafa Idris, who killed an Israeli and wounded 150 others in Jerusalem Jan. 27, 2002, was feted on a broadcast, the Israel-based monitor Palestinian Media Watch reported.

Her act of terrorism has been regularly honored by the PA, including the naming of educational programs and summer camps after her.

PMW provides a copy of the broadcast, with subtitles in English added, in low and high bandwidth versions.

The song’s lyrics, according to a translation by PMW, are:

My sister, Wafa, My sister, Wafa,
Oh, the heartbeat of pride,
Oh, blossom who was on the Earth and is now in heaven, (2x)

My sister, Wafa
Allah Akbar! Oh Palestine of the Arabs
Allah Akbar, Oh Wafa!
But you chose Shahada [martyrdom]
In death you have brought life to our will.
But you chose Shahada,
In death you have brought life to our will.

After the attack last year, Idris’ mother, Wasfiyeh, proudly described her daughter as a martyr and a “daughter of Palestine.” The suicide bombing reportedly inspired other women in Palestinian refugee camps to follow her example.

WorldNetDaily interviewed a veteran female Palestinian terrorist and leader of the “Black September” airline hijacking gang, Leila Khaled, who welcomed women’s participation in the intifada.

“Do not forget,” Khaled said, “that women are involved in the [Palestinian] military organization. We must continue to struggle with all possible measures.”
