Palestinians show 2 faces toward Americans

While Palestinian Authority officials rushed to condemn the attack that killed three Americans in the Gaza Strip, the PA-controlled media continues its relentless campaign of anti-American indoctrination.

One week ago, according to Israel-based Palestinian Media Watch,the PA's official broadcast of the Friday sermon included the following threats and warnings to the U.S. by Sheikh Ibrahim Madiras:

We hear statements by the little American president, oppressive statements. He says Israel has the right to defend itself … . These statements carry destruction for America itself … . This president sees himself like one who has ascended to the mountaintop and like one expecting someone to push him so that he falls into the abyss, he and his people with him. We warn the American people that this president is dragging them to the abyss… . [Allah] take vengeance on your enemies, our enemies, enemies of religion.

PMW, which noted it has been monitoring the PA for years, said, "In its English statements, the PA presents itself as an American ally, while its Arabic messages incite its people to hate and kill Americans."

A sermon in February on official PA TV described the U.S. as "the foremost enemy of the Muslim nation."

A September sermon by Madiras told Muslim believers to anticipate the destruction of the U.S:

If we go back 1,400 years in time, we find that history is repeating itself, worshippers of Allah. The Prophet Mohammed was besieged by two powers, Persia in the east and Rome in the west. These represent the Soviet Union and America of today. Persia represents Russia in the east, and America stands for Rome in the west. Persia fell first in the east, just as Russia fell first in the east, and America will fall, may it be Allah's will, just as Rome fell … .

Palestinian Media Watch commented: "Clearly, the American diplomats were murdered [Wednesday] by Palestinians fulfilling their role in their war against Americans, as they have been taught by their leaders, through years of hate-mongering and calls for violence against Americans."

The three security guards were killed when a bomb, apparently triggered by remote control, wrecked their armored jeep. A Federal Bureau of Investigation team and Palestinian security officials are probing the attack.

During the war in Iraq, the PA actively endorsed the killing of Americans, producing a music video celebrating the deaths of U.S. soldiers broadcast repeatedly on official television, PMW said.

In the months before the Iraq war, the official PA daily published calls to Saddam Hussein to turn Iraq into a graveyard for American soldiers. At a pro-Iraq rally, they "praised the role of Iraq and the Commander Saddam Hussein, and stressed that Iraq's land will be a graveyard for the American soldiers," said the official Palestinian paper Al Hayat Al Jadida in December.
