Rachel Ehrenfeld, author of “Funding Evil: How Terrorism is Financed – and How to Stop It,” is the guest on Joseph Farah’s radio show today.
“Terrorists need money to pay for recruitment, travel, training camps, weapons, bribes, propaganda, housing and food, and day-to-day maintenance expenses,” says Ehrenfeld. “The U.S. and other democracies are losing the war due to misdirected efforts. We have not been effective in shutting down their access to funding. For the terrorists, it is still business as usual.”
“Funding Evil” draws a roadmap illustrating how terrorist organizations – especially Islamist terror organizations – are funded. To identify the patterns of terrorist funding, the book exposes the primary groups and some of the individuals that give and receive money on their behalf. The book sheds light on how these activities have gone undetected for decades while terrorists have recruited thousands to their ranks and millions to their cause – amassing fortunes in the process.
“Funding Evil” explores in detail such issues as:
- How political corruption in Western countries, as well as in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East, plays a major role in helping terrorist organizations to operate and flourish.
- How illegal drugs are the major source of funding for terrorism.
- The most pertinent aspects missing from the U.S. war on terrorism and what the U.S. should do to effectively combat terrorism.
Ehrenfeld is the world’s foremost authority on “narco-terrorism” and sought after commentator and consultant on the problems of international terrorism, political corruption, money laundering, drug trafficking and organized crime. Most recently, she consulted for the U.S. Defense Department’s Threat Reduction Agency. Ehrenfeld is the author of the books “Narco-Terrorism” and “Evil Money.”
