Friends of J. Zane Walley, public-policy activist and contributing writer to WorldNetDaily, have set up a recovery fund to help the journalist pay medical bills after suffering a stroke.

On Nov. 14, Walley had a stroke while working at his home in Lincoln, N.M.

While Walley reportedly is responsive and in good spirits, he is paralyzed on his right side. An MRI indicates "Jay," as he is known to his friends, suffered "quite a bit of damage" in the incident.

Walley eventually will be moved to the VA hospital in Albuquerque where he will undergo an extended recovery period.
According to the Paragon Foundation, which is sponsoring the fund drive, Walley and his wife do not have health insurance.
Walley's best-known work for WND is entitled "'Arab terrorists' crossing border," a post-9/11 analysis of the vulnerability of the U.S. southern border to militants from around the globe.

The writer also wrote an expose on 70-year-old rancher Wally Klump, who sits in prison for "trespassing" cows on Bureau of Land Management property in Arizona's Dos Cabezas Mountains.
Walley currently is executive director of the Environmental Conservation Organization.
