Dean said last week he's not sure Osama bin Laden is guilty of anything – even though the leader of the al-Qaida
terrorist network has boasted of his attacks on the U.S., including the one
Sept. 11, 2001: "I've resisted pronouncing a sentence before guilt is found," Dean said. "I still have this old-fashioned notion that even with people like Osama, who is very likely to be found guilty, we should do our best not to, in positions of executive power, not to prejudge jury trials. So I'm sure that is the correct sentiment of most Americans, but I do think if you're running for president, or if you are president, it's best to say
that the full range of penalties should be available. But it's not so great
to prejudge the judicial system."
Dean also
portrayed himself as "a committed believer in Jesus Christ": ''Christ
was someone who sought out people who were disenfranchised, people who were left behind. 'He fought against self-righteousness of people who had
everything. ... He was a person who set an extraordinary example that has
lasted 2000 years, which is pretty inspiring when you think about it.'' All
true, of course. But Jesus Christ did much more than set an example. He came
to earth as the Son of God and shed His blood to save mankind. Believing
that is what makes one a "committed believer in Jesus Christ."
Farah will also reveal Dean's course study at Yale – where he took at least
four courses in Marxist studies. Farah's producers have repeatedly invited
Dean to join the show – as well as all the other Democratic presidential
candidates. They have all declined the requests.
