"The French Betrayal of America" presents evidence supporting the contentions that French President Jacques Chirac lied to President Bush and to the public about the war in Iraq; the war in Iraq was indeed a "war for oil" – waged by France, not the U.S.; France urged Saddam to commit genocide in southern Iraq to make the area safe for French oil engineers; and that Saddam paid off French politicians with suitcases of cash.

Timmerman, a former congressional aide, is a senior writer for Insight magazine. He is the author of three books on the arms trade and intelligence issues.
