Terrorists in Iraq today shot two rockets at Baghdad’s Sheraton Hotel, causing a fire on the first floor.

According to Fox News, there also were reports of automatic gunfire in the area after the rockets hit.

The Sheraton is where many foreign journalists and contractors are housed.

Reports indicate no casualties as a result of the attack.

The Associated Press reported security guards at the adjacent Palestine Hotel said two rockets fired from the back of a pickup truck hit the Sheraton. According to one guard, speaking on condition of anonymity, private security personnel deployed on the roofs in the hotel compound fired at the pickup truck, destroying it.

Video on Fox News Channel showed smoke in the lobby of the Sheraton, broken glass doors at the entrance of the building and debris strewn about.

The fire was believed to have been caused by one of the rockets that landed in the hotel compound surrounded by a concrete wall. A palm tree could be seen on fire in TV coverage of the event.

Fox reported a U.S. soldier said several shaken Westerners emerged from the hotel. U.S. military personnel were searching the area of the attack.

A Fox reported said the attack occurred shortly at 7 p.m. Baghdad time just as hotel guests were finishing dinner.

Firefighters were working to put out the fire, which was reportedly on the first floor of the Sheraton.
