During a fund-raiser yesterday in Staten Island for a local borough candidate, McCain told the New York Daily News he was giving the possibility of a White House run serious thought.
"But I'd like to wait until after the 2006 elections until we make a decision," he said.
"Arizona may be the only state in the nation where mothers don't tell their children they can grow up and be president," the senator said, noting the Grand Canyon State has never put a man in the Oval Office.

The Daily News says McCain seemed to humorously rule out accepting a vice presidential post in the future: "I spent all those years in a North Vietnamese prison camp, kept in the dark, fed scraps, why the hell would I want to do that all over again?"
In August, a Gallup poll suggested in hypothetical matchups, both McCain and former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani would defeat New York Sen. Hillary Clinton by a margin of 50 to 45 percent in the 2008 race for the presidency.

As WorldNetDaily exclusively reported in July, McCain defended his cameo appearance in "Wedding Crashers," the sexy comedy the Drudge Report called a "boob raunch fest."
"In Washington, I work with boobs every day," joked McCain during an appearance on NBC's "Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
"In Washington, D.C., there's a lot of qualities," McCain, who once butchered Barbra Streisand songs on "Saturday Night Live," said. "A sense of humor is not one of them."
