Editor’s note: Newly released WND Books’ “… Pants on Fire: How Al Franken Lies, Smears and Deceives” is available at WorldNetDaily’s online store.
Al Franken, the leftist author, comedian and radio talk-show host, says he plans to move back to his home state of Minnesota and begin laying the groundwork for a run for the U.S. Senate in 2008.
Franken told Reuters: “The next thing I am doing is moving back home to Minnesota and getting involved in politics. I’m looking at a run for Senate in 2008, but in the meantime I am focused on knitting together the progressive network in the upper Midwest.”
Franken says he plans to move to Minnesota in January and work toward recapturing the late Sen. Paul Wellstone’s Senate seat from Republican Sen. Norm Coleman.
“I knew Paul well; I campaigned for him a lot,” Franken told Reuters. “He was a friend. A great guy.”
Wellstone died in a plane crash in 2002.
While Franken’s Senate plans appear serious, skeptics like Alan Skorski, the author of “… Pants on Fire: How Al Franken Lies, Smears and Deceives” might chalk it up as another Franken fabrication.
Skorski, who tracked Franken’s every public move, every public thought, every public deed – and some private ones – for his new book, shows how Franken changes his tune depending on the audience to whom he is playing.
As WorldNetDaily reported, Franken has performed for U.S. troops overseas and says he supports military personnel, but in a parody called “Sorry,” included on Franken’s CD “The O’Franken Factor,” the comedian slams American soldiers, saying:
Sorry ’bout the prisoners
Sorry they got raped
Sorry they got tortured
Sorry it got taped …
Believe me when I say their apology is sincere
I’m awfully sorry for that broomstick up their rear …
The Air America radio host is beginning a tour to promote his latest political satire book, “The Truth (With Jokes).”
