On the heels of a mad-packed weekend for "Mad Max," a new report claims Mel Gibson had been stopped twice before for reckless driving in Malibu, Calif., but was allowed to go free without a ticket or arrest.

According to TMZ.com, the website which first broke the news of Gibson's anti-Semitic tirade during this weekend's arrest for alleged drunk driving, the actor-director was pulled over by a Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputy three years ago for speeding at 74 miles per hour on Pacific Coast Highway just a mile from his home.
"Sources say Gibson avoided eye contact with the deputy during the stop and even though the deputy was suspicious of Gibson's sobriety, he let him go," the site says.

TMZ also reports Gibson was stopped last year for driving 64 mph on the PCH where the posted limit was 45.
"Sources say that Gibson was so cocky that he was on his cell phone the entire time he was detained by the deputy. Ultimately, the deputy decided to let him go without giving him a citation," TMZ states.
There's also new information concerning Gibson's arrest Friday morning and the purported "sanitization" of information from police.
As WND reported, according to the police report, Gibson – initially cooperative – resisted arrest and had to be forcibly restrained and handcuffed by Deputy James Mee before he could be placed in the patrol car.
A distraught Gibson repeatedly said, "My life is f****d."

Gibson reportedly banged himself against the seat, yelling threats at Mee: "You mother f****r. I'm going to f*** you." The purported field-arrest report reads, "Gibson almost continually [sic] threatened me saying he 'owns Malibu' and will spend all of his money to 'get even' with me."
Gibson then reportedly began making anti-Semitic statements: "F*****g Jews ... The Jews are responsible for all the wars in the world." He then asked the deputy, "Are you a Jew?"
TMZ says it was told by sources "that Lt. Crystal Miranda told the arresting deputy that Capt. Tom Martin talked to Sheriff Lee Baca who expressed concern that the explosive report might leak to the media and that it needed to be rewritten in a sanitized form."
It says Gibson admitted to drinking out of a bottle of tequila found in his vehicle.

"We're also told that Gibson, who issued a statement over the weekend, suggesting he was not of sound mind when he uttered the anti-Semitic tirade and engaged in abusive behavior, was not in fact 'out of it,'" the site says. "Sources connected with the case tell TMZ that Gibson was drunk but was in control of his senses. At one point at the sheriff's station, sources say Gibson was 'jumping like a monkey' on a steel cage and told the arresting deputy, 'I'm not going to hurt you physically. I'm gonna hurt you. I'm gonna make you lose.'"
Gibson issued an apology Saturday, stating:
''After drinking alcohol on Thursday night, I did a number of things that were very wrong and for which I am ashamed. I drove a car when I should not have, and was stopped by the L.A. County sheriff's. The arresting officer was just doing his job and I feel fortunate that I was apprehended before I caused injury to any other person.
''I acted like a person completely out of control when I was arrested, and said things that I do not believe to be true and which are despicable. I am deeply ashamed of everything I said and I apologize to anyone who I have offended.

''Also, I take this opportunity to apologize to the deputies involved for my belligerent behavior. They have always been there for me in my community and indeed probably saved me from myself. I disgraced myself and my family with my behavior and for that I am truly sorry.
''I have battled the disease of alcoholism for all of my adult life and profoundly regret my horrific relapse. I apologize for any behavior unbecoming of me in my inebriated state and have already taken necessary steps to ensure my return to health.''
