The book, "Showdown with Nuclear Iran: Radical Islam's Messianic Mission to Destroy Israel and Cripple the United States," published by Nelson Current, climbed to No. 25 on the Amazon.com best-seller list yesterday in its first day of publication.
In support of the book, Evans has posted a petition to President Bush for reader signatures on HelpStopIranNow.com. The petition calls on Bush to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, concluding, "If Iran obtains a nuclear device, it will be too late for America, Israel, for our troops in Iraq, and for the world."

Evans and Corsi discuss President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's fervent belief in the Mahdi, the Twelfth Imam, a grandson of Islam's prophet Muhammad who Shi'ite Muslims believe disappeared down a well in A.D. 941. Anticipating that an apocalypse will be needed to cause the Mahdi to return, Ahmadinejad has expressed publicly his religious belief that the second coming of this Islamic messiah will bring triumph to Shi'ite Islam over all other religions worldwide.
The petition to the president says:

Ahmadinejad believes he is on a mission from God to usher in the Twelfth Imam (the Mahdi) through an apocalyptic event. He believes at that time, all infidels will bow to Islam. He is testing America's resolve and tolerance for terror, and we are failing the test. Please let Ahmadinejad know that there will be no tolerance for his terrorist threats.
The petition cautions against allowing an Iran ruled by Ahmadinejad from developing nuclear weapons:
Mr. President, the terrorists that attacked America on 9/11 were permitted to travel through Iran on unstamped passports in order to avoid detection, and with the blessing of Iran's leaders. Had those men had dirty bombs rather than using aircraft, America could have lost three million on 9/11 rather than nearly three thousand.
Among Evans' other books is "Beyond Iraq: The Next Move." Corsi is author of the 2005 book ""Atomic Iran: How the Terrorist Regime Bought the Bomb and American Politicians," published by WND Books.
