Last month, WND reported the new al-Qaida field commander in Afghanistan called for Muslims to leave the U.S. – particularly Washington and New York – in anticipation of a major terror attack to rival Sept. 11, according to an interview by another Pakistani journalist.
Abu Dawood told Hamid Mir, a reporter who has covered al-Qaida and met with Osama bin Laden, the attack is being coordinated by Adnan el-Shukrijumah and suggests it may involve some form of weapon of mass destruction smuggled across the Mexican border.
Les Kinsolving, WND's correspondent at the White House, asked President Bush's spokesman, given those warnings, what can individuals do to be prepared?
"The answer is, Americans do what we've been doing since September 11th, which is to remain vigilant," he said.

"But on the other hand, the Department of Homeland Security and everybody in the government – and local police and other organizations continue to do everything they can to proceed in the war on terror," Snow added.
"It's one of the reasons why the president has pressed vigorously not only for the detainee provisions that were just signed into law, but a terrorist surveillance program, for ways of tracking finances of terror groups, for figuring out where they are, what they do, who they're talking to, and what they intend," he said.
He also said he couldn't speculate whether those threats are being made because the U.S. war on terror is advancing or not.
"You'll have to ask the authors of those statements what they intended," he said.

The latest warning came just days ago, via journalist Jamal Ismail
The former al-Jazeera journalist told the News of Pakistan he got a telephone call Oct. 5 from the head of the pro-Taliban cleric's consultative council advising "Muslim residents of America to get out, to escape harm, because the U.S. could face big attacks in the month of Ramadan."
About a month earlier, a similar warning was dispatched to U.S. Muslims.
At that time, Abu Dawood told reporter Hamid Mir of the plans for an attack, possibly involving a weapon of mass destruction smuggled into the United States from Mexico.

"Our brothers are ready to attack inside America. We will breach their security again," he is quoted as saying. "There is no timeframe for our attack inside America; we can do it any time."
The latest warning also included the statement that the "cycle of warnings" now was finished.
