The "phony soldier" story won't go away. It's splattered everywhere – on TV, in newspapers, talk radio, and it's all over the Internet. In my business, they say the controversy has "legs." The attack by anti-war liberals against Rush Limbaugh is being fueled by the media elites who despise Rush and have tried ceaselessly for years to get him thrown off the air.

The same left-wing activists who have denounced the missions of our troops, and who venomously call our military personnel rapists and brutal thugs, now have the audacity to attack a titan of talk radio who has been one of the most unwavering champions of our troops and our fight for victory in Iraq.
TRENDING: Is this what you voted for, America?
It was pretty nervy of Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid to call for a resolution condemning Limbaugh. This is the same guy who pronounced our troops "losers."

I imagine Sen. Reid is still ticked off about those intelligence briefings showing the change in tactics in Iraq is working. The surge is successful by any standard, because the rate of military casualties is now at its lowest level in a year, civilian deaths in Iraq have dropped by 70 percent, and al-Qaida is being killed in record numbers. Our troops are some losers, huh?
I know how Rush is feeling right now, as I am receiving the same treatment from those on the left because of comments I've made defending Limbaugh. In a public statement I released, and in comments I made on Fox News Channel, I snapped back that Rush had it right in his assertion that anti-war liberals are using "phony soldiers" to undermine the missions of our troops serving in the war on terror.
Despite the fact that I am chairman of Move America Forward, the nation's largest grass-roots pro-troop organization, I have now been denounced and vilified as being anti-troop by the anti-war lobby, including none other than Media Matters for America.

Did I miss something here? My organization has sent over 30 tons of cookies, coffee and other goodies to our military men and women in harm's way. Move America Forward has organized four national tours to make sure the public gets the news on the efforts of our troops that the elite media won't tell them. Our staff is working 24/7 to make sure our soldiers know that support for them exists outside the corrupted beltway of our nation's capital. I have been to Iraq myself, and organized a trip for Gold Star family members to visit the country to see for themselves the progress that has been made.
The simple explanation for this smear campaign against Rush Limbaugh, other pro-troop advocates and myself is that it is an orchestrated effort by those who are running full-tilt to escape the stain of being anti-military, chief among them the political operatives aligned with Hillary Rodham Clinton.

Leading the attack against Limbaugh is the liberal media watchdog Media Matters for America, which has received millions of dollars in funding from George Soros and his affiliated left-wing special-interest groups.
This week, Rush Limbaugh explained to his listeners that it is none other than Hillary Clinton who helped launch Media Matters for America in the first place.

As Rush explained:
Wait 'til you hear who some of the staff at Media Matters for America are, and for whom they used to work. We know Mrs. Clinton admitted to starting the organization. We know it's a Clinton front group. We know what its reason for existence is. And it's, as far as she's concerned, probably doing a bang-up job.

If they win in 2008, these people, MoveOn.org and Media Matters for America who have, in fact, many of them previously worked with Mrs. Clinton. One of them is Sidney Blumenthal's son who is at Media Matters for America. I think his name is Max, and Sidney Blumenthal was Mrs. Clinton's henchman in the White House, organizing all these investigations and hit pieces on Mrs. Clinton's enemies.
Liberals howled about Rush's expose on the links between Media Matters for America and Hillary Clinton's political operation, but Limbaugh has undeniable evidence to back up his claim.

As Fox News Channel's John Gibson noted, it was none other than Hillary Clinton who admitted the connection:
I have said before that Media Matters was started with help from Hillary Clinton and took George Soros' money. …
It has also now come to light that not only did Hillary Clinton help start Media Matters with former conservative David Brock in charge, she bragged about it to a convention of the far left. At the Daily Kos convention – a gathering of the far, far left – Hillary Clinton said the following:

"We are certainly better prepared and more focused on, you know, taking our arguments, and making them effective, and disseminating them widely ... in a lot of the new progressive infrastructure, institutions that I helped to start and support like Media Matters and Center for American Progress."
But it gets even better, folks.
The MoveOn.org front group, VoteVets.org, unveiled television ads this week attacking Limbaugh for his "phony soldiers" remark, and it was VoteVets.org Chairman Jon Soltz, who was tasked with delivering the Left's talking points against Limbaugh on TV.
Regular readers of this column will be very familiar with Mr. Soltz. At the YearlyKos convention, Soltz silenced and chased after an Army sergeant who dared to read statistics suggesting the "surge" of U.S. troops in Iraq was working.
So it won't surprise you to know that Soltz has also been on national television singing the praises of none other than – Hillary Rodham Clinton.
In early August, Soltz appeared on MSNBC's Hardball opposite Move America Forward's Lt. Col. Buzz Patterson, and Soltz used the appearance to urge Americans to vote for Hillary Clinton for president:
I think Hillary is someone who has all the strength's of a strong commander in chief. … She understands how we fight and why we fight, and she is someone who represents sensible foreign policy.
I think people should vote for Hillary Clinton if they want someone who will protect America, take the fight to al-Qaida.
If you want to defeat al-Qaida you should vote for Hillary Clinton.
Those words tell you all you need to know about this manufactured and phony campaign against Rush Limbaugh and the people who support the defeat of al-Qaida in Iraq and our enemies in Iran.
Team Hillary will do whatever it takes to eliminate her political opponents. They engage in political sniper fire, even if that means catching the men and women serving in the war on terror in their crossfire. And if it takes propping up "phony soldiers" to give them a false cover of being supportive of the troops, then that's exactly what they'll do.
It's up to us to get the truth out there, and I ask you to go down below this column and click "Digg It" so that we can be sure that the American people know the facts behind this smear campaign against Rush Limbaugh and other pro-troop leaders.
