Editor’s note: Kathleen Willey came to prominence in 1997 as part of the Paula Jones’ sexual harassment lawsuit against President Bill Clinton after being subpoenaed to testify in the case. Courted by the White House to remain silent, Willey reluctantly testified about the sexual assault she suffered at the hands of the president – unleashing the brutal and unrelenting Clinton spin machine, determined to ruin her at any and all costs.
Sen. Hillary Clinton |
I didn’t know whether to laugh or cry when I saw the recent headline about Hillary considering the White House a prison. Amazing, isn’t it, how overwhelming and overweening her ambition is? How willing Hillary is to “sacrifice” her freedom on our behalf, as if the presidency wasn’t a position that she has lusted after for years as a way to fulfill all her ambitions, America be damned. This woman’s chutzpah truly knows no bounds.
Even more ironic, of course, is that it was Hillary who condemned people like me to our own forms of prison: prisons of fear. Ever since I dared to “out” Bill Clinton for the sexual predator he is, I got on Hillary’s hit list, and she has tried to imprison me by threatening me, my children, friends and even my pets. Her minions and media lapdogs combed my background, looking for anything they might spin to discredit me. They hired private detectives to harass and terrorize me. They made it difficult for me to earn a living, and I believe they even burglarized my home – my only sanctuary – to steal the manuscript for my book, “Target.”
Yes, I know something about being “imprisoned,” feeling lonely, stressed out and friendless, although I didn’t volunteer for these experiences, believe me. They were thrust upon me, quite literally, by Bill Clinton, the same Bill Clinton for whom Hillary is now trying to find a funny title, since “first lady” clearly won’t do if Hillary manages to achieve her lifelong dream of gaining control over millions of people who’d just as soon be free of her.
What a crack-up Hillary has turned out to be! Until I worked in the White House and saw Hillary in action, until witnessed what a misery Hillary was to work for, how rude and imperious she was, how she wasn’t to be addressed or looked at by staffers, I never imagined that, secretly, beneath that unpleasant exterior, beat the heart of a comedian. Not just that, but an imprisoned comedian, yearning for the world outside of the prison of the executive mansion.
Uh, right. Where Hillary feels imprisoned is in public places, where she’s forced to interact with common people with all their petty little problems, like raising kids and earning a living. Talking to her intellectual inferiors (just about everyone, as far as she’s concerned) must feel like another form of incarceration to her. So must it be to have a husband whose sexual insatiability and immaturity constantly interfere with her ambition.
Hillary seems to feel most trapped when she realizes that not everyone “gets” her self-professed genius, and some even have the nerve to question her sheer wonderfulness or thereal reasons behind her “sacrifices” on their behalf. Only when she’s in control can she be free.
Having been on the receiving end of Hillary’s obsession with control, I can testify that there is nothing funny about it. Being terrorized in your own home and having your personal space violated is no laughing matter. That’s part of what “Target” is about.
The phenomenon that actually is funny is Hillary’s campaign to humanize herself, to remake herself as “one of the girls.”
Well, I’m one of the girls, and I give thanks each day that, no matter what challenges come my way, I am not imprisoned by the greed, lust for power and venality that led this woman to try and destroy my life, as well as the lives of many others who got in her way. And it seems to me that, if Hillary indeed feels like a prisoner when she’s in the White House, it would be in our mutual interest to keep her from returning to it.
