Whether “America the Beautiful” quickly is becoming “America the Disintegrating,” is the top question asked by writer, speaker and columnist Pat Buchanan in his book “Day of Reckoning,” the top selection at Shop.WND.com this week.

“Torn apart by a culture war, America has begun to Balkanize and break down along class, cultural, ethnic, and racial lines,” he writes. “Free trade is hollowing out U.S. industry, destroying the dollar, and plunging the country into permanent dependency and unpayable debt. One of every six U.S. manufacturing jobs vanished under Bush. The Third World invasion through Mexico is a graver threat to U.S. survival than anything happening in Afghanistan or Iraq…”

Buchanan reveals in his book the true existential crisis of the nation.

“Ideology,” writes Buchanan, “is a Golden Calf, a false god, a secular religion that seeks vainly, like Marxism, to create a paradise on earth. While free enterprise is good, the worship of a ‘free trade’ that is destroying the dollar, de-industrializing America, and ending our economic independence, is cult madness.”

He concludes that America must stand for freedom and self-determination, but the use of U.S. troops around the world is imperial folly, and the nation should speak out for human rights, but “the idea that we get in Russia’s face and hand out moral report cards to every nation on earth is moral arrogance.”

He calls it “absurd” to think the United States “can import endless millions of aliens, legal and illegal, from every culture, clime, creed, and continent on earth, and still remain a country…”

He is seeking a bottom-up review of America’s Cold War commitments, new security for America’s borders, a halt in the erosion of national sovereignty and a restoration of U.S. manufacturing.

In second place is “The Late Great USA” by Jerome Corsi, in which he uses the government’s own documents to outline plans for the “coming merger with Mexico and Canada.”

It reveals how the “Security and Prosperity Partnership” created at a meeting of President George W. Bush, Canadian Paul Martin and Mexican Vincente Fox “is in fact the same kind of regional integration plan that led Europe to form the EU.”

According to Corsi, the elites in Europe who wanted to create a European nation knew that “it would be necessary to conceal from the peoples of Europe just what was being done in their name until the process was so far advanced that it had become irreversible.”

Now using dozens of documents secured through the Freedom of Information Act, Corsi sets out a chilling view of America’s possible “harmonized” future – one being created covertly, without voter input or Congressional oversight.

“The Late Great U.S.A. is a real winner that sounds a clarion call to this nation. This book uncovers the careful deceptions of a powerful elite who want to undermine our sovereignty before we realize it. I consider this a must read for every American,” said Hal Lindsey, best-selling author of “The Late Great Planet Earth.”

“Dr. Corsi has ‘connected the dots’ between the Security and Prosperity Partnership, the sale of toll roads and other infrastructure to foreign companies, and proposals for a North American Union with open borders between Mexico, the U.S., and Canada. ‘The Late Great U.S.A.’ is an essential read for anyone concerned about the future independence and sovereignty of the United States,” added Phyllis Schlafly, president of Eagle Forum.

In third is David Kupelian’s “The Marketing of Evil.”

“Highly skilled marketers, playing on our deeply felt national values of fairness, generosity and tolerance, have persuaded us to embrace as enlightened and noble that which all previous generations since America’s founding regarded as grossly self-destructive – in a word, evil,” Kupelian writes in the book.

Such a description of those agendas catapulted the book into the middle of the culture wars when it was published, and has brought Kupelian a wide range of reactions from readers ever since.

It’s even brought out the “faith” in some who might otherwise deny any sort of a belief system.

“I pray for hackers to take down WorldNetDaily. See, I’m religious too,” wrote a reader identifying himself as Cody.

And James added: “I just hope if there is indeed a hell, that you and all of your morally bereft, hypocritical lot descend into the lowest circle to be found there.”

Ryan expressed is a similar sentiment, but very politely:

“I’m SO VERY GLAD I’m not you! Get hit by a bus, please!” he said.

But Kupelian notes what is so interesting is that no one has actually identified a single factual error in the book.

And while some reaction has been negative, the national response to his groundbreaking exposure of “evil marketers” has been overwhelmingly positive, with many readers claiming it has literally changed their lives. Here’s a sampling of reader-reviews from Amazon.com on “The Marketing of Evil”:

  • “I finished “The Marketing of Evil” over a month ago. It absolutely changed my life.”

  • “This book surely is like holy water dashed on vampires. The vampires being the undead leftists sucking the morality out of humanity like blood. If you hate truth, you will not comprehend this book. If you love it, this book is a must read.”

  • “Turn Big Brother off the big screen, and open this book. If you’re a Christian, it may be the most important book you own next to the Bible.”

  • “Read this book and you will start seeing the lies more clearly and you will then be on the path to truth.

“It’s often said that marketing is warfare, and in ‘The Marketing of Evil,’ David Kupelian clearly reveals the stunning strategies and tactics of persuasion employed by those engaged in an all-out war against America’s Judeo-Christian culture,” said syndicated columnist and author David Limbaugh. “If you really want to understand the adversary’s thinking and help turn the tide of battle, read this book.”
