TEL AVIV – A pair of Israeli soldiers has been charged with exposing their backsides to a group of Palestinians in an alleged attempt to disburse the Palestinians who had gathered in a field close to a Jewish community.
The Israeli army acted quickly today to hold a disciplinary trial and sentence the soldiers in question to 21 days in jail after YnetNews, a popular Israeli website, posted footage it obtained of the soldiers pulling down their pants and underwear, shaking their bare backsides, and then flashing a victory sign (Caution: nudity in footage).
The footage does not show any Palestinians in view of the soldiers.
According to a far leftist Christian peace activist organization, which filmed the video in question, the soldiers were mooning a group of Palestinian farmers who had gathered in a field near the West Bank city of Hebron. The activist said he filmed the soldiers on Jan. 11, but the footage was only posted on YnetNews today.
A peace activist identifying himself only as Sean told YnetNews he filmed the scene while accompanying Palestinian farmers to “protect” them from local Jews.
Sean claimed the Jewish residents, including of Moan Farm, a small community outside Hebron, regularly “harass” the Palestinian farmers, a claim unsupported by facts on the ground.
Hebron’s tiny Jewish community of about 700 residents is surrounded by the city’s Palestinian population of about 166,000. Palestinian terrorists have carried out scores of attacks, including sniper shootings, against Hebron’s Jewish neighborhood and against Moan Farm, which has a tiny Jewish population.
Describing the incident, Sean said: “It was around noon; we were accompanying shepherds from the village of Tuba to a nearby Wadi, because the settlers regularly hassle them and throw stones in our direction.”
“The settlers demanded that the shepherds evacuate the area, and IDF soldiers who arrived at the scene also attempted to clear the Palestinian shepherds from their grazing fields; then, in the middle of the argument and for no apparent reason, the soldiers pulled down their pants and exposed their rear ends to us.”
The IDF would not tell WND whether the flash-happy soldiers admitted to mooning the Palestinians – only that the troops were sentenced and will spend the next three weeks in an army brig.
