The definitive how-to book on packing your pocketbook with patriotism and buying American instead of Chinese, "How Americans Can Buy American – Third Edition," is the top pick among all best-sellers this week at Shop.WND.com.
The author, Roger Simmermaker, took note of the issues surrounding the manufacture of American consumer goods in China, from the 36-cent-per-hour wages paid workers to problems from contamination and defects in those products.

And he concludes: "It all comes down to 'whose pockets are we lining?' Why not line our own? We must be able to pay for the things that 'We, the People' have demanded from our country. Buying American benefits everyone."
He said for one thing, workers in foreign countries don't pay taxes to America, and American-owned companies pay twice the amount of taxes as foreign-owned companies. He also said more taxes paid means more benefits reaped, since 75 percent of all federal spending goes to Social Security, Medicare, defense, education, farm subsidies, highways, parks and interest on the national debt.

His book, then, was written to show consumers how to patronize their neighbors, friends, and countrymen. "Never before has there been such a strong link between patriotism and the pocketbook for so many American consumers," the book notes.

Citing the belief once expressed by Thomas Jefferson, that, "I have come to a resolution myself, as I hope every good citizen will, never again to purchase any article of foreign manufacture which can be had of American make, be the difference of price what it may," the author explains how to buy appliances, electronics, clothing and dozens of other items, still made in America.
"While many have argued passionately that it is time to put America and Americans first, Roger Simmermaker, in 'How Americans Can Buy American,' shows us how. His book is a patriot's guide to shopping," said Patrick J. Buchanan, author and syndicated columnist.
"No American should leave home without a copy of 'How Americans Can Buy American.' It is a must guide for every consumer," added Gus Stelzer, retired senior executive for General Motors.
The Buy America Foundation said many products are of murky origin. "When some parts of a product are domestic and some are foreign, how should it be classified? And what about the question of company ownership? Is a product American if it is made in this country by a foreign-owned corporation?"
"These are some of the questions addressed in 'How Americans Can Buy America,'" the group said.

It uses the clear Contemporary English Version and provides a compelling presentation, with almost endless uses: for kids, young adults, seniors, families, the disabled, churches, schools, Bible studies, reading programs and English as a second language outreaches.
There are 12 DVDs in the package, starting with 196 minutes on the story written by Matthew alone.
In third place is "The Marketing of Evil" By David Kupelian. Dr. Laura Schlessinger calls it one book that "dares to tell the truth."
In his best-selling and controversial work, Kupelian describes how "Americans have come to tolerate, embrace and even champion many things that would have horrified their parents' generation – from easy divorce and unrestricted abortion-on-demand to extreme body piercing and teaching homosexuality to grade-schoolers."

He says that's not necessarily that people today are "inherently more morally confused and depraved," but that they have "fallen victim to some of the most stunningly brilliant and compelling marketing campaigns in modern history."
The book "peels back the veil of marketing-induced deception to reveal exactly when, where, how, and especially why Americans bought into the lies that now threaten the future of the country."
"For example," he writes, "most of us mistakenly believed the 'abortion rights' and 'gay rights' movements were spontaneous, grass-roots uprisings of neglected or persecuted minorities wanting to breathe free. Few people realize America was actually 'sold' on abortion thanks to an audacious public relations campaign that relied on fantastic lies and fabrications."
Fox News Channel contributor Michelle Malkin notes, "Every parent in America needs to read this book. David Kupelian skillfully exposes the secular left's rotten apple peddlers in devastating detail."
