It's so easy to focus all of our attention on the negative influences in our culture today.
It's easy because there are so many of them.
And it's necessary to expose them.

But it is equally important to highlight the positive alternatives emerging within our cultural institutions – those that clearly provide the way home.
It is not an exaggeration to say the U.S. academy – our entire system of colleges and universities – is corrupt, anti-Christian, anti-Western, even anti-American.

That's not to say students can't learn anything in that system. But higher education has been taken over by a morally relativistic, ultra-secular, man-centered, humanistic worldview.
However, there are some new institutions arising out of the dust of what was once a great system of higher education in America – institutions that emphasize the best of the past and the realities of the present and future.

If we are ever going to take America back, we will need a new generation of leaders grounded in the Word of God and a thorough knowledge of the great works of Western Civilization.
About 10 years ago, a friend of mine founded an institution designed to do just that.
Michael Farris, a constitutional scholar, author and the founder of the Home School Legal Defense Association, launched Patrick Henry College, to "prepare Christian men and women who will lead our nation and shape our culture with timeless biblical values and fidelity to the spirit of the American founding."
That is the first step to transforming our society to serve God and man "with a passion for righteousness, justice and mercy, through careers of public service and cultural influence."

Unlike almost all other institutions of higher learning, Patrick Henry College deliberately reaches out to homeschooled students. It emphasizes the kind of general education core based on the classical liberal arts that once served as the hallmark of American higher education.
Not surprisingly, Patrick Henry College has been a smashing success by any standard of measurement. It is serving a great unmet need. There is more demand for this kind of alternative as more parents and students recognize its distinctions.
And, so, today, I want to do something I rarely do. I want to ask you to support Patrick Henry College with your tax-deductible contributions.
Would you like to be a part of building what has been described as "God's new Harvard"?

Patrick Henry College is growing fast. It is in the midst of a major new building program to serve more students and produce more great American leaders.
You may not think you have resources that will make any meaningful difference in the college's future. You may not have children or grandchildren who may ever benefit from an education there. But, if you are an American who wants to see our country transformed and you know it will take a new generation of patriots thoroughly grounded in the truth, you can help – and help in a very meaningful way.
Patrick Henry College is in the midst of $32 million expansion. The money has been guaranteed by a donor. But that donor wants to see the grant inspire broader support for the future. So it comes in the form of a "challenge grant" to expand the college's current donor base by 5,000 individuals – people who contribute any amount to demonstrate their support.
Can you contribute $25? How about $100? That's all that is needed to assure the integrity of that large commitment to the future of a real academic alternative – one that is vitally needed for the restoration of the American dream and all it means.
