It’s been called the “must-read” book for Christians, after the Bible, and now “Shocked by the Bible,” the book that champions biblical truth, is again the No. 1 best-seller this week at Shop.WND.com.
“I’m thankful and humbled by the fact that so many readers are
taking a stand for Bible truth in a time when God’s Word is under
attack,” said author Joe Kovacs. “In an era when Newsweek magazine claims the Bible has no problem with same-sex marriage, people need to know what Scripture really says.”
The book stands up for what the Bible actually says, and reveals, for example, that the “Three Wise Men” appear nowhere in the story of Jesus birth, and none are ever mentioned at the manger scene in Bethlehem. (They actually met Jesus in a house when he was a young child, not a babe in a manger.) It also documents that the Bible doesn’t say Jesus died on a Friday, or rose from the grave Sunday morning.
These are just a few of the many startling facts revealed in “Shocked by the Bible: The Most Astonishing Facts You’ve Never Been Told,” by Kovacs, the executive news editor for WND.
“Shocked” even dares to look at issues you’ll probably never hear about in church.
Among those issues are the underwear that didn’t disintegrate despite 40 years of heavy use and the worst case of hemorrhoids in history.
“It’s not about religion,” says Kovacs. “It’s about the Bible. What’s in it, and what’s not. You’ll truly be stunned when you see for yourself what Scripture has to say, without anyone telling you it doesn’t mean what it says.
“It’s for those who have never read the Bible, those who don’t understand the Word, as well as those who have been reading it for years and know it well, or at least thought they knew it,” says Kovacs.
“If you think you really know the Bible, better think again. Joe Kovacs
takes a close look at the greatest story ever told and separates myth
from reality,” said Fox News anchor Bill O’Reilly. “My favorite parts
of the book deal with Christmas and Easter. Check out ‘Shocked by the
Bible.’ You may well be shocked.”
“Your parents never told you THIS STUFF was in the Bible,” said Melanie Morgan, radio talk-show host and co-author, “American Mourning.”
Kovacs has written hundreds of reports over the years. Many have focused on biblical issues including chariot wheels found in the Red Sea, searches for Noah’s Ark and the Ark of the Covenant, and controversies over Christmas and Easter holidays as well as the Saturday-vs.-Sunday Sabbath.
In second place this week is “The Marketing of Evil: How Radicals, Elistists, and Pseudo-Experts Sell Us Corruption Disguised as Freedom” by David Kupelian.
He documents how Americans have come to tolerate, embrace and even champion many things that would have horrified their parents’ generation – from easy divorce and unrestricted abortion-on-demand to extreme body piercing and teaching homosexuality to grade-schoolers.
The question then, is whether that means today’s Americans are inherently more morally confused and depraved than previous generations? Kupelian says no.
“But they have fallen victim to some of the most stunningly brilliant and compelling marketing campaigns in modern history,” he writes.
“The Marketing of Evil” reveals how much of what Americans once almost universally abhorred has been packaged, perfumed, gift-wrapped and sold to them as though it had great value.
“Highly skilled marketers, playing on our deeply felt national values of fairness, generosity and tolerance, have persuaded us to embrace as enlightened and noble that which all previous generations since America’s founding regarded as grossly self-destructive – in a word, evil.”
“David Kupelian dares to tell the truth about the overwhelming forces in our society which take us far away from our original American concept of freedom with responsibility, happiness with commitments, and traditional values,” says Dr. Laura Schlessinger, talk-show host and author. “‘The Marketing of Evil’ is a serious wake-up call for all who cherish traditional values, the innocence of children, and the very existence of our great country.”
In third place is “The Obama Nation: Leftist Politics and the Cult of Personality” by Jerome Corsi.
The book by the No. 1 New York Times best-selling co-author of “Unfit for Command” and senior staff reporter for WND explains what the extreme leftism of an Obama presidency will produce for America – a weakened, diminished and divided entity.
By tracing Obama’s career and influences from his early years in Hawaii and Indonesia, the beginnings of his political career in Chicago, his voting record in the Illinois Legislature, his religious training, his religious conversion through his recent involvement in Kenyan politics, his political advisers and fund-raising associates and his meteoric campaign for president, Corsi shows that an Obama presidency would, in his words, be “a repeat of the failed extremist politics that have characterized and plagued Democratic Party politics since the late 1960s.”
Among the issues investigated are:
- Obama’s extensive connections with Islam and radical politics.
- His 20-year religious affiliation with the black-liberation theology of Rev. Jeremiah Wright.
- Obama’s continuing connections with Kenya.
- Obama’s involvement in the slum-landlord empire of Chicago political fixer Tony Rezko.
- And Obama’s far-left domestic policy.
Work on the book was begun shortly after Obama was elected to the U.S. Senate in 2004, and it includes more than 600 footnotes.
