Christmas sales down – but not at WND!

By WND Staff

WASHINGTON – Retail sales nationally dropped 4 percent from last year, according to data from SpendingPlus, a research and analysis firm, but climbed by more than 250 percent at online superstore Shop.WND.com for the first 25 days of December over the same period last year.

At a time being characterized by retail sales experts as “one of the most challenging holiday seasons on record,” WND’s online sales more than doubled the totals of any of the previous four years.

“These are tough times as we experience a recession, tightening credit and the highest unemployment rate in 15 years,” said Joseph Farah, founder and chief executive officer of WND. “However, we’re delighted that WND visitors don’t seem to be hurting as much as the rest of the country clearly is.”

With more Americans shopping online every year, Farah believes they are increasingly looking at opportunities beyond the big e-commerce retailers like Amazon and discovering unique stores like the one developed over the last 11 years at WND.

Discover and explore the wonderful world of Shop.WND.com – a budding online superstore for discerning minds who want the essentials for understanding the world in which we live.

Ann Coulter, "Guilty"

“Amazon is like Walmart,” explains Farah. “Lots of people like stores that sell virtually everything. But others prefer stores that are more discriminating. Shop.WND.com is very discriminating – refusing to offer any products made in China, emphasizing products made in the USA and focusing on information products such as books and DVDs that are essential to understanding the world in which we live.”

As a result, Farah said, Shop.WND.com will be expanding its offerings greatly in 2009.

Farah points out there are many products in Shop.WND.com available nowhere else on the planet. For instance:

Ann Coulter’s newest book, “Guilty,” is available autographed by the author at no additional cost – a Shop.WND.com exclusive.

There’s a unique, original collection of specially created magnetic and, therefore, removable bumper stickers to allow you to express yourself on your morning commute.

Feasts of the Lord

There are original DVD videos produced by WND, such as “The Feasts of the Lord,” which focuses on the importance to Christians of the biblical feasts usually associated only with Judaism, and “The Late Great USA” video based on a lengthy lecture by WND senior staff writer Jerome Corsi, author of a best-selling book by the same name about the plot to merge the U.S., Canada and Mexico.

Whistleblower

There’s the newest exclusive online subscription product, “Jerome Corsi’s Red Alert,” a weekly online financial newsletter for those concerned about the state of the economy and especially those who seek opportunities the crisis presents, and there is Joseph Farah’s G2 Bulletin, the intelligence bulletin for those who want to know what’s really going on in our world behind the headlines, and, of course, WND’s monthly offline print magazine, Whistleblower.

“On top of all that, WND’s online store takes the guesswork out of shopping for books and other information products,” says Farah. “We pre-screen all the important works for you – including others you can find elsewhere but maybe would miss among all the clutter.”
