For at least the second time since last summer, aides of newly inaugurated President Barack Obama have chosen the leader of a Muslim group linked by the U.S. government to terrorism to play a role in a religious service, perhaps helping push “Obsession: Radical Islam’s War Against the West” into the top spot among best-sellers at Shop.WND.com this week.
WND reported that Ingrid Mattson, president of the Islamic Society of North America, was among the religious leaders scheduled to appear during the inaugural events this week in Washington.
Mattson also spoke at the Democratic National Convention’s “interfaith gathering” in Denver.
At that time, Fox News reported ISNA was suspected of having ties to radical terrorism worldwide, and during last year’s Holy Land Foundation terrorism trial was regarded as an “unindicted co-conspirator” by the U.S. government.
The government alleged documents show ISNA is supported by the Muslim Brotherhood, which has called for “jihad” against the West.
Linda Douglass, a spokeswoman for Obama’s inaugural committee, praised Mattson, stating, “She has a stellar reputation in the faith community.”
