Take the economic test. Don’t worry; it’s not really that hard. At least I didn’t think so. Imagine you’re a financial counselor and are asked to help solve the financial crisis for a family of four: Dad, Mom, Johnny and Susie. Dad has just been laid off. Which course of action would you recommend?
A) Dad should actively seek other employment and live off savings until he gets another job;
B) Ask mom to get a part-time job to help make ends meet;
C) Hold off on buying the X-Box for Johnny’s birthday until the funds are there; or
D) Tell Mom and Dad, Johnny and Susie to spend everything they have and millions they don’t have for everything they’ve always wanted. Go ahead and get the new house, those new cars, X-Box, new wardrobe, and take that family vacation to the Greek Islands you’ve always wanted to take.
If you chose “D,” you would make a great secretary of the treasury in the Obama administration – especially if you don’t believe in paying your taxes. That will greatly increase your chances of being chosen for an Obama Cabinet position, whether you’re going for treasury secretary or secretary of health and human services. As Glenn Beck said, these people think a W-2 is President Bush’s second term in office. No wonder they hate them so much. By the way, if you think your pay raise matters more than the law, you’d make a great secretary of state.
Last October, I made a prediction of what would happen should Obama be elected in a “newscast from the future.” Here’s the prediction:
It’s been said the ACORN doesn’t fall far from the tree, and with a message of gratitude for all their hard work in the elections, President Obama increased federal funding in his budget for the group best known for voting fraud. Senators were warned by ACORN if they voted against their increase in taxpayer funds, they would suffer an enormous backlash from deceased voters in their districts. (Here’s the video.)
Here’s what actually happened: President Obama’s plan set aside over $4 billion in his stimulus package for controversial community groups such as ACORN. What a shock.
And that’s not the only thing this 647-page bill will fund if we let it become law. The Socialist Stimulus partisan package will take money from you, your children and grandchildren to give:
- $600 million for a new fleet of cars for federal employees;
- $50 million for the National Endowment for the Arts;
- $335 million for HIV and sexually transmitted disease prevention (read that: they will throw $335 million worth of condoms and “how to use them” materials by the likes of Planned Parenthood and the homosexual lobby at your innocent children);
- $200 million for the National Mall, including sod, presumably to replace what was trampled and destroyed during the inauguration (not to mention the 130 tons of litter strewn by the ever so environmentally friendly Obama supporters);
- $650 million for digital TV converter coupons;
- 2 billion to subsidize child care;
- $1.1 billion for Amtrak, which hasn’t shown a profit in four decades;
- $300 million for the AmeriCorps “volunteer” program (I guess all those “volunteer’s need great big salaries);
- $400 million for research into global warming;
- 2.4 billion more for global warming worded differently: to demonstrate how carbon greenhouse gas can be safely removed from the atmosphere;
- $1 billion for next year’s census; and
- Millions for illegal aliens since no proof of citizenship is required to get it.
Rob from the people and give to the programs. It adds up to $819 billion. But the Congressional Budget Office calculates that the interest on the debt generated will cost another $347.1 billion, making the total cost approximately $1.17 trillion. This will cripple the economy, not stimulate it.
The Heritage Foundation has estimated that this works out to over $10,000 for every family in our nation. According to Ben Stein, for the amount we’re spending for liberal pet projects, we could give $75,000 to every unemployed person in the United States. According to the New York Post, another option is we could give every person who’s been unemployed for six months or longer about $300,000.
The House passed the bill without any Republican support last week, but Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell said he doubted the bill would pass in the Senate as both Democrats and Republicans had problems with it.
Sen. Jon Kyl of Arizona said he’s also seeing an erosion of support for the bill. Kyl says the approach is wrong and says they should start from scratch. If he’s talking about tax cuts instead of government giveaways and political pay-offs, he’s right. Stimulus not socialism.
A caller to my Faith2Action radio program last week admitted that he was an Obama supporter, but that “socialism wasn’t what I signed up for.” Well, socialism is what you’ll get … unless you make a bold stand against it right now. Call your U.S. senators at 202-224-3121 and ask them to stop the Socialist Stimulus package!
