One of the top news stories in Israel today – just released for publication
– centers around an Arab militant in Israel who was sentenced to three years in
prison on charges of spying for Syria.
At a closed court hearing last week, Syrian nationals Yusuf Salah Sham and
Atta Farhat were found guilty of spying for an enemy country, including
providing the Syrian military information on Israeli troop locations and military
installations in the strategic, mountainous Golan Heights during the 2006
Lebanon war. The two, who lived legally in Israel, were arrested in 2007.
But long before the details of the case made headlines, even before almost
anyone else in the news media was even aware of the situation, one
enterprising reporter sniffed out the militant during the height of his alleged spying
activities and interviewed him in person for what would become a
critically acclaimed book.
WND’s Jerusalem bureau chief Aaron Klein interviewed
Farhat along the Israeli-Lebanese border and disclosed the details of their chat
in the blockbuster book “Schmoozing with Terrorists.” Farhat was being investigated much before his interview with Klein.
In “Schmoozing,” Klein takes readers into the
viper’s den of Palestinian terrorism and outlines, at times in the
jihadists’ own words, what Islamic terror is really about.
What do critics have to say about “Schmoozing with Terrorists”?
- “Klein boldly goes where few journalists have gone before,” National Review Online.
- “As the war on terrorism continues, Klein’s book provides chilling
insight into the thoughts and beliefs of the leading fanatics who
could very well have a role in shaping both our future and the next
presidency,” Denise Wheeler, Huffington Post. - “Our sworn enemies tell Mideast-based, twenty-something U.S.
journalist Aaron Klein whom they’d like in the White House, kvetch
over showbiz types like Madonna, Britney, Spielberg, Mel Gibson,
bigmouths Jane Fonda and Sean Penn and conservative talkers
Limbaugh and Hannity, plus Richard Gere, who did a commercial
urging Palestinians to vote. Well, they did. And elected Hamas,” Cindy Adams, New York Post. - “How refreshing to hear a member of the Fourth Estate telling it like
it is. How refreshing to hear terrorists debunking with their own
words such mealy-mouthed Western canards as ‘ignorance and
poverty make them do it,’ ‘they act only out of desperation,’ or ‘they
are merely defending themselves against occupation.’ For those
under the sway of the Western media, many of the frank (proud,
even) revelations, motivations, and goals offered by Klein’s subjects
will come as a very rude awakening,” Jerusalem Post Book Review. - “A hawkish young man in his mid-twenties, Klein uses his book as a
rocket launcher aimed at terrorists, ‘cowardly’ Israeli politicians,
Jews who knuckle under to Palestinians, and Americans who can’t
grasp the stake they have in the rat’s nest of Mideast politics,” Philadelphia Daily News. - “Klein’s book provides the necessary proof that willful ignorance and
cowardice play a strong role in the current widespread distribution of
sympathy for the Arab Palestinian narrative,” American Thinker. - “Klein is the most accurate, talented reporter in the Middle East. He
has better access to the terrorist bad guys than Muhammad would if
he came back from the dead,” radio host G. Gordon Liddy. - “Klein is the Middle East insider you need to know. Most network,
cable, and print correspondents talk about the Middle East. Aaron
Klein lives it,” U.S. radio host Michael Reagan. - “Klein’s style is conversational and personal: he never hides his own
perspective. And yet those whom he interviews, although occasionally
bridling at some of Klein’s questions, are perfectly comfortable meeting
with him and articulating their views and goals,” Aish HaTorah Review. - “Klein’s interviews show that Palestinian leaders have repeatedly
perpetrated a vile hoax on their acolytes,” Philadelphia Jewish Voice.
