Martial arts legend, businessman and WND columnist Chuck Norris will be honored for his humanitarian work at the George Bush Presidential Library March 31.

Norris will be given the McLane Leadership in Business Award by George Bush, the 41st president of the United States.

The honor, which is co-sponsored by the library foundation and the Bryan-College Station Chamber of Commerce, serves to recognize the role of prominent individuals for their outstanding contributions in business and public service.

The honor is supported by an endowment from Drayton McLane, the owner of the Houston Astros.

Norris is a six-time undefeated World Professional Middle Weight Karate Champion and holds the rank of an eighth-degree Black Belt Grand Master. He created the KICKSTART program which gets school children involved in the martial arts and has impacted positively more than 60,000 young people since its launching in 1990.

As an actor, Norris starred in “Walker, Texas Ranger,” a program still seen by an estimated one billion viewers, for eight seasons and appeared in “Delta Force,” “Missing in Action,” “Lone Wolf McQuade” and “Sidekicks.”

He was an Airman 1st Class in the United States Air Force and has spent time working as a spokesman for the U.S. Veterans Administration. In 2007, he was made an honorary member of the U.S. Marine Corps in recognition of his visits to troops in Iraq.

Norris also is a New York Times best-selling author and his latest book, “Black Belt Patriotism: How to Reawaken America,” is his first work on social commentary.

He’s also the subject of countless fictional “facts” generated by fans. It has been estimated there are more than 600,000 “facts” floating around the Internet. Among them: When Chuck Norris does pushups, he doesn’t lift himself, he pushes the earth down.
