For the first time in my adult life, I am really embarrassed for my country as President Obama refers to our nation as arrogant and divisive. Has Obama ever looked into a mirror?
I thought we hit a low point in the office of the presidency when a girl in a blue dress named Monica was reported to have frequented the Oval Office for unofficial visits. Or when Nixon resigned in the disgrace of Watergate. Those events are nothing in comparison to a president who is openly attacking and disrespecting the nation he allegedly loves on foreign soil.
Obama walking in this false humility is a joke. There is not a humble bone in this man’s body and yet he is telling the world America is too arrogant – too divisive. If he truly believed this, why didn’t he bring it up on the campaign trail? Why did he tell it to the world before he told the people he wanted to lead?
If this is the approach of the Obama administration, he would make a far better leader of the European Union than of the United States – unless he really feels this way about America. Does he, like his wife, truly believe the U.S. is a “mean” country?
I will not list all the reasons Obama is wrong for the words he used, but suffice to say his approach to the future can be captured in a single term: “chick” diplomacy. He wants to talk and hug it out. He’ll never fix the problems – just talk about them so we all feel better. Words will now speak louder than actions. He wants all the world to know he knows how you feel.
We can no longer call planes flying into a building an act of terrorism. In Obamamerica, it will be referred to as a “manmade disaster.” North Korea can fire long-range missiles, and we will watch the U.N. talk, sign papers and allow Kim Jong Il the crazy little bastard to do as he wishes with Obama offering two simple words: “provocative act.” No resolve, just words. Is Kim Jong Il merely a vertically challenged, bipolar leader in Obamafantasy?
Hamas, Hezbollah, Islamic jihadists and Iran will be treated like world players with a seat at the Obama table of talk instead of being acknowledged for what they are: thugs. That is the false humility captured in the non arrogance you will see from a president more concerned with everyone liking us more than our safety.
This may be the first metrosexual, affirmative-action presidency in America’s history. Thank goodness the Department of State still has a secretary with a set. She may be the only hope of national security being more of a priority than national popularity. Hillary will hopefully hold Barack’s hand if the going gets tough. If the going gets tough, this president will go shopping at Hermes. Latte in hand.
Does Obama not understand that his fantasy of talking everything out makes a very dangerous world more dangerous? Can he really subscribe to the ideology that negotiating can bring every threat to a peaceful conclusion? If that is his reality, he is dreaming. And his dreams may get you killed.
Vice President Biden was correct. In the first six months, Obama will be tested. That test has come with the firing of a missile by North Korea – a missile capable of knocking out one-third of America’s power grid with EMP (electromagnetic pulse). Will he pass the test? If not, what will the world look like if he fails? I guess more words will heal all the damage, right?
It probably won’t make much difference in the eyes of the media, for this is one of many problems Obama has “inherited” from the Bush administration. And we all know that Obama is not responsible for any problem he inherited. After all, the ills of the world as we know it today are completely George Bush’s fault and will continue to be so for the next three years and nine months. (Yes, I am counting the days.)
As I watched the events of Obama’s trip to Europe for the G20 meeting and the subsequent campaign stops he made bouncing around Europe, I was embarrassed for my country. I was saddened at the thought that brave men and women died to free the land on which the president stood as he told the world we are arrogant. We are divisive. How we need to be better. More like him, I suppose.
I am really embarrassed for my country and for the men and women who make it great. But I know the greatness of America is in its people. And while Obama will say anything to endear the world to him and not us, we know better. There is only one arrogant and divisive American whom I know. Many call him president. I call him Mr. Barack Obama.
