Bull in a foreign-policy shop

No nations, no border, fight law and order!

– Anti-NATO protesters, Strasbourg, Germany, April 4, 2009

It’s clear Barack Obama has never considered himself an American, though, ironically, he managed to get himself elected president of the United States. In saying this, I don’t mean that he views himself a national of some other country (although this may be the case); instead, I believe that, like certain abysmally naïve Americans, he views himself a “citizen of the world.” Obama spent a significant part of his early life abroad; once he returned to America, he was immersed in a social circle of anti-Americans and communists. He purposefully continued to associate with people of this caliber through college and his career in Chicago politics.

Whether Obama’s actions come from a place of malevolence or ignorance and imprudence remains to be seen; suffice it to say that many fears his detractors had prior to the 2008 election have already been validated, if not yet actualized. Among these was that he would compromise the sovereignty and supremacy of the United States on the world stage.

Beginning last week, our president embarked on a tour that appears to have been designed to reassure the world of his intention to bring America into line as an “equal partner” in the global community, or rather, the socialistic economic and cultural abortion that is headquartered in Western Europe.

While visiting Turkey, Obama iterated that we (in America) “do not consider ourselves a Christian nation.” Now, I’m not reacting as a Christian offended by Obama (I got over that months ago), but as an American who knows that smooching the Muslim world’s behind is only going to get us more of the same. Speaking from the Turkish Parliament, Obama declared that the U.S. “is not and never will be at war with Islam.”

Well, bend me over. It doesn’t take an expert on global politics to figure out that this doesn’t matter; Islam is at war with us.

It also bears mentioning that Obama bowing before Saudi Arabian King Abdullah was a calculated (if blatantly stupid and possibly treasonous) maneuver to convey subservience toward him. Symbolically, it was every American bowing before the retrograde monarch. The more I hear from Muslims weighing in on the issue, the more convinced I become of this.

A week before, in the wake of the U.N.’s move toward outlawing criticism of Islam, crowds of Muslim protesters flooded the streets of London. “Behead those who insult Islam,” one placard read. “Prepare for the real Holocaust,” and – I love this one: “Europe you will pay – your 9/11 is on its way.”

Pay for what? Providing these cavemen a higher standard of living and more freedom than they ever would have enjoyed in their native Third World toilets?

Obama’s foreign policy – keeping true to liberal Democrat tradition – has no basis in logic or common sense. Most Americans know, our current economic woes notwithstanding, that we’re better off than Europeans. We’ve also seen the futility of appeasement as regards Islamic factions and the danger of evidencing any weakness whatsoever in their eyes.

During the president’s visit to Germany for the NATO 60th-anniversary summit, anti-NATO protesters attacked police and set fire to a hotel and a customs station. Dancing around stacks of old tires, which they also set ablaze, they hurled rocks, sticks and Molotov cocktails when confronted by German police. The spokeschimps for these activists typically claim that they are calling for “an end to war.” They also claim that NATO is “a tool of Western imperialism.”

So, they’re either communists, or they’re idiots.

Like their American counterparts, Europe’s far-left activists are largely spoiled, lazy suburban white people with altogether too much time on their hands. Unlike their American counterparts, they are much more belligerent, violent and destructive – at least at the moment.

Far-left “citizens of the world” feel that America has enjoyed pre-eminence for too long. It’s been mounted atop its high horse feeling secure when it should be promoting the vision of a united, war-free, universally equitable Utopia. What they fail to realize is that despite their faith in the inherent decency of humankind, the law of the jungle still prevails in most of the world.

How patriotic Americans tolerate our collective fate being determined by the feelings of a vocal few – who have been effectively propagandized by garden-variety Marxist thugs – is almost beyond me. How much longer they tolerate it will determine whether we stand or fall as a nation.
