While Obama was observing the National Day of Prayer in private, some suggest by walking around on the waters of the Potomac River, planning his next act of salvation – Colin Powell was announcing that Americans want more government intrusion into their daily lives and want to pay more taxes for services.
The phrase, "you can't make this stuff up" somehow falls far short of what we are witnessing. On April 6, 2009, Obama told the Turks that America was not a Christian nation. He has yet to respond to the question of whether it ever was and/or at what point it switched to not being one.
His holiness (sarcasm admitted) frequently misquotes Matthew 25:40-45. He is fond of using same as a bludgeon to get what he wants, but it would seem this portion of his godly instincts end at the edge of the parenthetical waters some would have us believe he walks on.

Why would the president of the United States who claims to be a Christian, who claims to stand on Christian precepts, who claims faith plays a pre-eminent role in his life and that of his family, distance himself from the National Day of Prayer? Perhaps hiding his light under a bushel (see Matthew 5:16) has a different meaning for him – specifically as it relates to who his "father" is. Perhaps his understanding of denying the Lord before men is different (see Matthew 10:33) – after all he is supremely intelligent. So maybe, just maybe, he is more enlightened than the rest of us evangelical Christians.

That's something he might want to discuss with his mentor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and/or his close friend the Rev. Michael Pfleger. And while he is at it, he might inquire of them exactly what the Founding Fathers meant when they spoke of "God the Creator" and referenced the Lord's name prominently in their writings. But then, we probably know their responses to those questions.
White House press secretary Robert Gibbs said, "Prayer is something the president does every day" and that recognizing the National Day of Prayer by proclamation only was Obama's dictate. This raises the question per whose dictate it really was to cover the name of Jesus and all Christian nomenclature when he spoke at Georgetown University.

Show me one pagan terrorist or one Muslim that would offend their god, their country, their culture, or their people by abandoning a national worship service. The White House is to lead by example – but the only examples we are getting are how to fire CEOs, take over corporations, enflame terrorist opinion against our troops, waste our money and trample the Constitution.
The Scripture says, "By their fruits ye shall know them," and Obama is leaving little room for ambiguity pursuant to his faith, character, or his intentions for America – which brings me tangentially to Colin Powell. I met the general at a private reception at the British ambassador's residence. He was/is likeable, affable and overall a pleasant chap to spend time with, but to every conservative who wanted him to be president, what do you think now?
Here's my point. American voters continue to fall prey to the publicity machines of candidates and party politics. If Powell actually believes the Republican Party should become more centrist, i.e., "Democrat little," if he is so disenchanted with the party of Lincoln and Reagan, why doesn't he follow the lead of Arlen Specter? I, for one, promise not to be offended.
The Republican Party is in turmoil as malevolent forces fight to claim its soul. But don't think we are alone. Not that it matters as such, but there are no few Democrats who are feeling just as put out with what is taking place in their party.

Big government, the uniform deconstruction of the Constitution, spending, safeguarding pedophiles, vilifying our military and so forth are not just issues that outrage conservatives – something clearly demonstrated by the "tea parties," which Obama arrogantly mocked, as well as all who participated in same regardless of party affiliation, but I digress.
People want leaders. I personally believe, regardless of what the latest poll shows, that the majority of people love America and do not subscribe to the extremist agendas of the president, nor the redefining of "centrist," abortion notwithstanding. Ronald Reagan proved this. We need true leaders – men and women committed to the Constitution and America. People rallied behind John Kennedy despite his flaws, and all groups rallied behind Ronald Reagan – from Blue Dog Democrats to Log Cabin Democrats/Republicans, rank-and-file Democrats and conservatives. The people did so because these men stood for something, irrespective of how Kennedy is viewed today. Obama and Powell would be well reminded of what the Scriptures say in Revelation 3:15-16 – tepid isn't a quality God smiles upon.
