On June 18, the U.S. Senate issued a formal apology to black Americans for slavery. In July of 2008, the House of Representatives passed a similar measure, apologizing for slavery and the "Jim Crow" laws that were in force from 1876 to 1965 and which imposed segregation of blacks in America.
It might not be obvious to most, but these inane acts of contrition on the part of our government are an overture to opening discussions of reparations for slavery.
Although the issue has been on the drawing board for years, I knew that the question of reparations would rear its ugly head in fairly short order if Barack Obama was elected president. I doubted that he would directly tie himself to initiating the debate (which, as yet, he has not), but his rhetoric prior to being elected indicated that he was wholeheartedly in favor of reparations.

A few months into his presidency, it became apparent that the elite left was laying the groundwork for (at least) a discussion of reparations. Although much of this was initially under the radar, there were certain signs that this was afoot, if one knew where to look.

Regarding the Senate's apology last week, the monumentally overly degreed mediocrity Carol M. Swain (professor of Political Science and Law at Vanderbilt University, and more recently, appointee to the National Endowment for the Humanities Council on the Humanities), was quoted as saying, "The Republican Party [as opposed to the Democrats, who are currently in power] needed to do it. It would have shed that racist scab on the party."

This blather is singularly enraging because it indicates that either:
- this woman is essentially brainless (calling into question to whom advanced degrees are awarded, and the level from which our "experts" are scraped these days), or
- she is wholly dedicated to the barefaced propaganda that lauds the Democratic Party as the liberator of black Americans and demonizes Republicans as racists, slavers and segregators.
Those Americans who are not wholly dedicated to the aforementioned propaganda or who have not bought into it are aware that the Democratic Party's multitudinous platforms and measures supporting slavery and segregation between 1840 and 1948 are a matter of public record. This is why it is known among blacks not initiated into the far left race-baiting cult as "the slave owner's party."
Although the elite left has what they consider to be sufficient grounds and legal precedent for reparations, their reasoning is right out of an episode of "The Twilight Zone": On this week's episode in a strange, mysterious venue, Character A is detained for jaywalking. At the arraignment, we learn that his penalty, if he is convicted, will be death.
It has been demonstrated repeatedly over the years that the sanctity of personal responsibility and accountability are on the far left's hit list. No one is responsible for anything; this has led to various forms of havoc, whether it be in politics, the criminal justice system or the American family. As such, there is no ethical deterrent toward holding one group of people responsible for the actions of another. In this case, Americans at large will be compelled to "compensate" black Americans for the transgressions of those long-dead Americans who enslaved blacks' long-dead ancestors.

It is my personal view that those who advocate reparations for slavery possess a degree of iniquity so extreme that I am reluctant to disclose what I believe their disposition ought to be.
The rational arguments against reparations are quite stark. Notions of justice, integrity and equity – not to mention common sense – dictate that penalizing 21st century Americans for the actions of 17th through 19th century Americans is not only unjust, but quite insane. Working from within the same logical paradigm, there simply is no argument for modern black Americans somehow being deserving of recompense for evils perpetrated against their ancestors.
As they have done regarding all Americans, socialist lawmakers have appealed to the baser nature of certain blacks: sloth, greed and that carefully cultivated sense of entitlement. Who, having been enlisted in this manner (as well as utterly brainwashed and undereducated), would refuse a check from the government?

It is a frightening prospect, but here, the prudent gambler would put their money on nearly every black American who voted for Barack Obama climbing aboard Reparations Rail Lines as soon as an opportunity presented itself. Guilted white progressives, given yet another chance to feel magnanimous with respect to their role in "healing between the races," will help to advance this sham, possibly with more gusto than their black neighbors.
Aside from the votes Democrats will secure in perpetuity from black Americans, one thing remains evident to those who can see beyond the emotionalism and propaganda: The entire issue of reparations is nothing but another instance of our depraved, avaricious lawmakers scenting a gargantuan wad of cash for them to administer – ever so wisely, of course.
