House Speaker Nancy Pelosi can hardly blink (and the cosmetic surgery tax to pay for Obamacare died nanoseconds after the thoughtless congressional sponsor was reminded of Madame Speaker's obsession) so she knows the power of Botox, a poison that tightens skin and reduces wrinkles.
Nancy has spent the last week injecting American politics with one poisonous shot after another of rhetorical Botox to firm up support and eliminate the wrinkles of opposition to the increasingly unpopular Obama health insurance "reform."
Protesters showing up at lawmakers' district "town hall meetings" were first denounced by the speaker as "Brooks Brothers suits" shilling for the insurance industry. Opposition to Obamacare, she said, was just "a mob" and was "Astroturf" rather than real "grass roots" opposition. By the end of the week, shouted questions by constituents made them "terrorists."

At the White House, the organizer in chief was miffed that Americans would spontaneously organize to oppose his "reform" scheme, calling for his supporters to strike back "twice as hard."
But the Botox didn't work. Each time Pelosi increased the dose, ratcheted up the rhetoric, ordinary Americans just got madder. Even the lap dog American media could find no evidence of insurance industry funding for the confrontations going on in congressional districts all over the country. People looked like everyday Americans – not a Brooks Brothers suit in sight.

People didn't like being labeled "a mob" when trying to get an answer to basic questions like, "If this "reform" is so necessary, why is Congress exempt? Why are labor unions' health plans exempt? How can you vote to pass a bill you haven't read? Why are illegal aliens included? How can the "reform" save money when you want to spend more than a trillion dollars over 10 years to implement it?"
Most lawmakers couldn't or wouldn't answer these and other questions posed by knowledgeable constituents who were independents, Democrats and Republicans – many of whom had never attended such a meeting before.

But Obama supporters did strike back.
Rep. Russ Carnahan brought in SEIU labor union paid thugs to pack his "town hall" and shout down opposition. More than 1,000 of his constituents were locked outside the meeting, singing "God Bless America." One of them, a black man handing out "Don't Tread on Me" flags, was punched and kicked by SEIU T-shirt-wearing thugs shouting racial epithets.
I wonder if the president will call this a "teachable moment"?
Vulnerable Democratic lawmakers are becoming more nervous with their election just 14 months away.

Rep. Frank Kratovil is one of them. Elected in an eastern shore Maryland district that voted McCain in 2008, the first term Democrat came to Mardela Springs (population 350) to face more than 250 constituents last Tuesday. Many of them had read the "reform" bill and were not happy with it. A retired Navy chief petty officer cited current government-run health programs VA and Indian health care and asked "Why would we want that?" to loud applause.
Make no mistake, Nancy, the wrinkles of opposition are getting deeper. The Botox is not working. We the People will not be intimidated, marginalized or ignored.
Government can get away with bullying the people in China. The government-controlled media in the "Peoples' Republic" has rolled out the big guns against one woman – Rebiya Kadeer, a Uigher activist living in the U.S. Beijing blames her for the recent riots in the western province of Xinjiang where Muslim Uighers and Chinese Han have clashed leaving, some say, up to 10,000 Uighers dead or missing. Kadeer is a "separatist," an "extremist," and, yes, a "terrorist" for her opposition to the Beijing regime.
Speaker Pelosi has made too many CODELs to China on those G550s. She appears to believe that opposition to ideas she supports could not be legitimate and that government can and must suppress that opposition. So she demonizes your right to "redress of grievances." She calls it Astroturf when every day working Americans turn out for the meetings, but "grass roots" when the paid ACORN and ACT and SEIU troops show up to stifle dissent.

It's more than ironic that the modern Democratic Party, with its roots in radical demonstrations and dissent, once in power moves to suppress dissent. In 2003, Hillary Clinton screeched that it was "patriotic" to dissent from the Bush Iraq war. Now, you're a "terrorist" if you question the Obama "reform" proposal.
Americans at these town hall meetings understand what's going on. At more than one such meeting, the crowd chanted at their "representative": "You work for us!" It's a timely and much needed reminder.
What's at stake here is now more than the merits/demerits of the Obamacare proposal.
What's at stake is your right to wrinkle – your right to dissent. And your right to speak out and hold your "representative" accountable.

So Nancy, hold the Botox. The Constitution does not need a facelift. It needs to be respected. We the People will be heard.
