Does Washington ever tell the truth?

By WND Staff

“You Lie!”, the allegation being thrown back and forth in Washington these days and featured on a brand new bumper sticker, is – for the second week – the No. 1 item among best-sellers at the WND Superstore.

U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson of South Carolina fired off the accusation during President Obama’s recent address to a joint session of Congress in which Obama was lobbying for his planned federal health care takeover.

Wilson’s outburst came after Obama said his health care plan would not provide care to illegal aliens. While the bill does have a provision excluding illegals, at the time it also carried a rule that prevented doctors from verifying the eligibility status of patients.

Wilson later apologized to the president, but overlooked in the reaction to Wilson’s statement was the fact that only minutes earlier, Obama had called his critics liars. He was discussing criticisms of the health care plan’s provisions for various boards that would make decisions on the provision of health care, dubbed “death panels” by critics.

“It is a lie, plain and simple,” Obama said.

Wilson later rejected Democratic calls for multiple apologies.

“I am not going to apologize again,” Wilson told “Fox News Sunday.” “I believe the American people know I’m a civil person. I respect the institution of the House. I have apologized to the president. I believe that should be enough.”

The bumper sticker, now starting to appear on bumpers, file cabinets and any other magnetic surface – makes a bold statement about the dispute, and the general level of truth coming from the Obama administration.

The slogan is about 15 niches by four inches and is long-lasting as well as removable.

Among the other slogans available at Shop.WND.Com’s exclusive bumper sticker store are:

In second place is “The Feasts of the Lord”, a DVD that talks about what Pastor Mark Biltz of El Shaddai Ministries says are meant to serve as reminders of the greatest events of the past and foreshadowings of the future to come.

The spring feasts – or appointed times – were fulfilled by the first coming of Yeshua, the Hebrew name of Jesus, which means “Salvation,” he writes. He explains the fall feasts will be fulfilled by His Second Coming – in the very near future.

Biltz emphasizes that these feasts, described in Leviticus, were not intended for the Jewish people alone. He says they are repeatedly referred to in the Bible as “the Lord’s feasts” – meaning they are for all people. They are meant to be observed as well as to serve as signs of the times in which we live.

Biltz says much of the church is asleep – unaware of the significance of the feasts in God’s holy time clock. The feasts were not intended to be abandoned by believers after the coming of Jesus. His followers observed them in the First Century, he says.

In third is “Child Training Tips: What I Wish I Knew When My Children Were Young” by Reb Bradley.

The father of six is a pastor who ministers to the Body of Christ at large. He’s been a radio counselor and talk show host, and as a writer and national conference speaker he works diligently to strengthen the modern Christian family. He conducts seminars and teaches extensively on issues related to marriage, fatherhood, child training, and single Christian living.

The book answers questions including:

  • How can a parent tell if they’ve given control of their home to their children?
  • How can a child be trained to obey quickly when spoken to calmly and only one time?
  • What’s gone wrong when chastisement doesn’t work?
  • How can appropriate punishments be determined?
  • What are the most subtle signs of rebellion? and others
