Hypocrisy is pretending to be something you're not. Like Bernie Madoff.
Madoff – what an apt name for a guy who made off with billions of dollars while pretending to invest for people. Like the diamond in his ring, his hypocrisy had many facets.
Madoff was involved in seeing that others were not defrauded in the securities business, while he himself was defrauding others through his securities business.

Madoff is Jewish. Jews have been persecuted for centuries and have a unique family bond. During a securities disciplinary hearing before Madoff, he sanctimoniously lectured a lawyer on making light of the Holocaust. Yet a disproportionate number of Madoff's victims were Jewish, his own extended family. He was responsible for what they might call a financial holocaust.
Further, Madoff robbed not just wealthy Jewish businesspeople but Jewish charities, such as a Jewish university, the foundation of a Jewish Nobel Prize winner and a foundation that paid for young Jews to travel to Israel, their ancestral homeland. Madoff sought to be trusted by these charities and to be put in positions of responsibility with them, just so he could get his hands on their investment funds.

Madoff was a consummate hypocrite, made more so because he conned his own people.
As does Obama.

Washington, D.C., has the Opportunity Scholarship Program, begun because D.C. public schools are so terrible. In educational assessment tests, the city's schools are 51st in the nation, dead last behind all 50 states. Their public-school teachers are the highest-paid in the nation, and their per-pupil costs are among the highest, meaning they give the least education per dollar of any schools in America, and perhaps in the whole world.
The Opportunity Scholarships only apply to 1,700 students and allow low-income families $7,500 toward costs at any school of their choice. That is about half what the D.C. public schools get per pupil, so taxpayers who pay for the D.C. schools reap a huge percentage savings from this program.
The recipient parents and the students love these scholarships. They were oversubscribed four times and had to have a lottery to determine who got them. Think about that – escaping D.C.'s public schools is like winning a lottery.
What a fantastic deal! Taxpayers save big, parents and students love it, and the students do better academically.

Now, unless they change their minds, Obama and the liberals are ending the Opportunity Scholarship Program.
Some of the scholarship students made a video, asking Obama not to cancel their scholarships. Sakeithia, one of the girls on the video, is about the same age as Obama's older daughter, Malia. Sakeithia said, "My old public school was not a very safe place. I saw a lot of things a child should not see." Other students repeated the same theme. "In my old public school," Paul says, "people screamed at the teacher, walked out of the school during classes, hurt me and made fun of all my friends." Breanna said of her nongovernment school, "I love going to school there where I can learn and be safe."
You see, these students aren't just scared of not learning – they're scared of not living. They're afraid to go to Obama's socialist schools. We're not just talking ABCs. We're talking blood. Nevertheless, the Democrats voted in March not to continue to fund the program. Meanwhile, Obama spends tens of thousands of dollars to send his own girls to a private school in Washington, as he did in Chicago – a common practice of wealthy liberals.

Such gross hypocrisy would make even Bernie blanch.
This is not just an education matter. This is a matter of the deepest character. Bernie wasn't just an ordinary thief, stealing from strangers. He was a thief who pillaged and persecuted his own people. Obama has that same hypocritical character, sending Malia to the safety of an elite private school while trying to force Sakeithia and others into the dangerous public schools – and only because the unions pay him to do that.
In an investment manager or a national leader, character counts more than anything. Obama constantly spouts his concern for the common people, yet he spent billions to bail out the bankers. He spent billions to bail out Wall Street. He spent billions on clunkers to bail out the auto unions. But he won't spend a pittance so kids don't have to see "things a child should not see" when they go to school.
Obama's hypocrisy is all the more despicable because in D.C., most of the students are black. Like Bernie, he is willing to forsake his own people, just for the money.
