If not for conservatives, who would defend Israel?

Last week, I told you about the Anti-Defamation League's bizarre decision
to dub talk-radio star Glenn Beck America's "fearmonger in chief."

Respected journalist Caroline Glick responded in the Jerusalem Post:

Some of Israel's most high-profile supporters in the U.S. are conservative talk-radio and television hosts like Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Sean Hannity and Glenn Beck. But rather than thank them for their support, the Anti-Defamation League, which is supposed to be dedicated first and foremost to defending Jews from anti-Semitism, published a special report this week where it insinuated that they cultivate a climate of hatred and paranoia which could endanger Jews among others. …

The ADL's decision to issue a special report attacking Obama's political opponents ... is strange given that the ADL never put out a similar report against parallel anti-Bush movements.

Rush Limbaugh

Every year at this time, Rush Limbaugh reads "the real story of Thanksgiving" (FREE transcript).

Rush raised the ire of some listeners earlier in the week, however, after saying Sen. Mary Landrieu, D-La., "may be the biggest prostitute in the history of prostitutes" for taking a $300-million payoff in exchange for her support of the Senate health-care bill (FREE audio).

Glenn Beck

To a crowd of 25,000 fans in Florida, Glenn Beck revealed his "100-year plan" for America. The ambitious project includes "education conventions" and a march on Washington next Aug. 28.

The day of his announcement, Politics Daily posted an overview of Beck's "empire," which "includes his syndicated radio show, drawing nine million listeners weekly and earning him $10 million a year; a GlennBeck.com website that has five million unique visitors a month, 1.5 million listeners to his podcasts and one million subscribers to his daily e-mail; his Fox TV show with 2.7 million daily listeners; five consecutive books that made the New York Times best-seller list; and an array of stage shows that have drawn 250,000 people since 2004 and earned him $2.4 million. Forbes says Beck has earned $23 million since June 2008."

Back in the studio, Beck said sarcastically of President Obama, "This guy is a genius! Maybe the smartest man ever to be produced by humanity. There may not have ever – Jesus may not have been able to rule as comprehensively as Barack Obama" (FREE video).

Mark Levin

Glenn Beck seems to be pushing for a third party, but Mark Levin wants no part of it. He had harsh words for Beck's "plan" on Monday (FREE audio).

To celebrate Thanksgiving, Levin shared Ronald Reagan's brief address to America on Thanksgiving Day, 1985 (FREE video).

Dennis Prager

Larry Elder sat in for Dennis Prager on Monday, as Prager and his son traveled to Zambia to distribute mosquito nets (and yes, Elder is finally returning to radio full-time next month – as a podcaster).

On Tuesday, Prager was back, broadcasting live from Africa. Alas, the feed wasn't that stable, but it improved throughout the week and gave listeners rare insight into a region few Americans have visited.

On Thursday, Prager's "Best Of" rebroadcasts featured his reading of George Washington's original Thanksgiving Declaration, as well as calls from grateful immigrants and advice on how to deal with anti-American relatives around the dinner table (audio is members only, but Prager's blog is open to everyone).

Sean Hannity

Is the White House plotting to censor Sean Hannity? WND's Aaron Klein reported this week that Cass Sunstein, President Obama's "regulatory czar", has "singled out radio talker Sean Hannity for 'attacking' Obama regarding the president's 'alleged associations.'"

In 1993, Sunstein "drew up a 'First Amendment New Deal' – a new Fairness Doctrine that would include the establishment of a panel of 'nonpartisan experts' to ensure 'diversity of view' on the airwaves," Klein writes. These views reflect those of Obama's new FCC appointments regarding "localism" and other threats to existing conservative talk radio.

Hugh Hewitt

The leaked emails between "climate change" scientists that finally prove that "global warming" is a hoax were a hot topic on talk radio this week. While talking to Mark Steyn about these shocking revelations, Hugh Hewitt came up with a terrific analogy (audio is members only):

Hugh Hewitt: Is it fair to say, Mark Steyn, that everything that the tobacco companies were ever accused of doing with data about cigarettes is now true about the [Climate Research Unit] and its global-warming data?

Mark Steyn: Yeah, that's absolutely, that is actually a good way to put it. I mean, I think this idea … they've corrupted the very essence of science. They've corrupted peer review, they've had editors from journals fired who disagree with them, they've corrupted the data. They basically are the antithesis of science. They decide the result and then figure out how you need to set up the computer model to get the result. This is disgraceful. And if Phil Jones at East Anglia, and his colleague, Michael Mann at Penn State University over here, if they survive this scandal, then there is no reason why anybody paying even a minimal bit of attention should take climate change seriously ever again. They need, if the climate-change movement is serious, it will expel Phil Jones in East Anglia and Michael Mann from Penn State University from their ranks.

G. Gordon Liddy

WND's founder Joseph Farah joined G. Gordon Liddy to discuss the news that the FBI served the Council on American-Islamic Relations with a warrant in connection with the undercover expose recounted in the recent book "Muslim Mafia."

Farah said earlier, "I would say the nature of this warrant and the way it was served strongly suggests the FBI doesn't want these documents returned to CAIR – where they were destined to be destroyed in the first place."

Other highlights on the show this week (FREE audio) included an interview with "More Guns, Less Crime" author Dr. John Lott, a chat about Christmas with Mike Huckabee and Liddy's broadcast of a startling column denouncing Obamacare by lifelong leftist Nat Hentoff, who writes:

I was not intimidated during J. Edgar Hoover's FBI hunt for reporters like me who criticized him. I railed against the Bush-Cheney war on the Bill of Rights without blinking. But now I am finally scared of a White House administration.

President Obama's desired health-care reform intends that a federal board ... decides whether your quality of life, regardless of your political party, merits government-controlled funds to keep you alive. Watch for that life-decider in the final bill. It's already in the stimulus bill signed into law.

Funny: it almost sounds like he's talking about ... "death panels."

Finally, on the left side of the dial …

Radio Equalizer Brian Maloney reports, "Occasionally, lefty pundits make unusually candid admissions during liberal talk-radio interviews that would never occur elsewhere."

He cited David Shuster's MSNBC description of the high unemployment rate as "Obama's Katrina" (FREE audio).

"This kind of message," says Maloney, "indicates a president who isn't listening, even to his own side of the aisle."
